Initiatives">anti-crime initiatives, particularly in cities like chicago and Illinois, as explained by former Chicago Police Superintendent Jody P. Weis. Weis suggests that Democratic leaders such as Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson oppose these measures because they fear that triumphant crime reduction efforts under trump’s policies would expose the Democrats’ shortcomings and diminish their political power. Weis contrasts this stance with that of Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel bowser, a Democrat who embraced similar strategies and reportedly achieved positive results. The article argues that democratic opposition is not rooted in a commitment to liberty or federalism but rather in a desire to maintain control and the political status quo, especially given that crime disproportionately affects Black communities. The piece critiques Democratic leaders for preferring symbolic support of movements like Black Lives Matter over implementing practical solutions to reduce crime and save lives.

    Read more…

The modern Democratic Party has grown sclerotic in its commitment to chaos. I wish they would learn from her.”

So why would Democratic leaders reject Bowser’s example and continue to resist Trump? Let us examine the only two possible explanations that leap to mind.

Oddly enough, the question of federal control over municipal law enforcement arose in an ancillary way when Alexander Hamilton, the United States’ first Secretary of the Treasury, delivered a written opinion to President George Washington in defense of Congress’ power to create a corporation, in this case the First Bank of the United States, for the purpose of collecting taxes or regulating trade.

“Thus a corporation may not be erected by congress, for superintending the police of the city of Philadelphia because they are not authorised to regulate the police of that city,” Hamilton wrote in 1791.

In other words, questions of federalism come into play when discussing power not expressly delegated in the Constitution. And power over the police certainly falls under that heading. Trump has not proposed using the National Guard to supplant or co-opt the CPD. But a “slippery slope” argument does exist here.

And that leads us to our first possible explanation: Democrats object to Trump’s anti-crime measures because they love liberty.

Not often in one’s career does one have the opportunity to advance a proposition so laughably absurd. After all, Democrats showed their true authoritarian colors during the COVID scare. And they did it again with their reaction to the Capitol incursion of Jan. 6, 2021. They also detest the Bill of Rights, in particular the First and Second Amendments.

Thus, their objection to Trump’s anti-crime measures has nothing to do with loving liberty. They simply object to the exercise of power by anyone other than themselves.

Second, as Weis noted, Democrats have resisted Trump’s efforts because they fear his success.

That, of course, makes total sense. If Trump frees Democrats’ constituents from crime and poverty, then those constituents will have no use for Democrats. They will begin to see, for instance, that Democrat leaders have no real interest in black lives.

“Seventy-eight percent of the victims are black,” Weis said of shooting victims in Chicago, “[and] 81 percent of the offenders are black.”

Democratic leaders, however, prefer to march with Black Lives Matter than to save actual black lives. The former requires nothing more than grievance-mongering, which they do best. The latter would require solving a problem on which they prefer to continue campaigning. To hold onto power, they need to preserve the status quo and blame others for it.

In short, Weis offered the only possible explanation for Democrats’ resistance to Trump’s anti-crime measures.

       * Name

       *

      * Message

* All fields are required.

Success!

       function firefly_sc() { if( typeof window.captchaPublicKey==typeof undefined ){ console.error('window.captchaPublicKey is not defined'); } grecaptcha.execute( window.captchaPublicKey, { action: 'submit_correction' } ).then( function( token ) { var opts={ action: 'firefly_sc_submit', name: document.querySelector( '.entry-submit-correction [name="name"]' ).value, : document.querySelector( '.entry-submit-correction [name=""]' ).value, message: document.querySelector( '.entry-submit-correction [name="message"]' ).value, post_id: firefly_post_id, cap_token: token } var inputs=[ 'name', '', 'message' ]; for( var i=0; i <inputs.length; i++ ) if( ! In fact, the more indefensible a stance is, the more likely a modern Democrat will support it. This trend calls for an explanation. In an interview with Jan Jeffcoat from The National Desk, former Chicago Police Superintendent Jody P. Weis suggested one of only two possible reasons why Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson have strongly opposed President Donald Trump’s promise to address crime in their city.

When asked why they resist these efforts, Weis replied simply: he believes they are afraid-afraid that people will see what can be achieved when politicians genuinely commit to making a difference.

He added that this is the only explanation that makes sense and praised Washington D.C.’s Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser for embracing such measures with positive results, wishing others would follow her example.

Why then do other Democratic leaders reject Bowser’s approach and oppose Trump? There are two main possibilities worth considering.

Historically, federal authority over local police forces raises constitutional questions about powers not explicitly granted by the Constitution-a point Alexander Hamilton addressed in 1791 regarding Congress’ limits on municipal control.

Trump has not proposed replacing local police with federal forces but concerns about a “slippery slope” exist.

The first possible reason Democrats oppose Trump’s anti-crime initiatives is purportedly their love of liberty-but this claim is easily dismissed given Democrats’ authoritarian actions during COVID-19 and after January 6th events, as well as their opposition to certain constitutional rights like those in the First and Second Amendments.

Therefore, their resistance isn’t about protecting freedom but rather opposing any power exercised by others besides themselves.

Second-and more plausibly-as Weis noted, Democrats fear Trump’s success because if he reduces crime and poverty among their voters, those constituents may no longer support them or believe Democrat leaders truly care about black lives. With most shooting victims and offenders being black in Chicago, Democratic officials prefer symbolic protests like Black Lives Matter over actual solutions because grievance politics help maintain their power by preserving the status quo while blaming others for ongoing problems.

In summary, Weis offered what appears to be the sole reasonable explanation for Democrats’ opposition to Trump’s crime-fighting efforts: fear of losing influence if real progress occurs

[33651
4387,50403,5894
post-2481951","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-the-western-journal","tag-chicago","tag-crime-2","tag-politics
["GET
