Routh then suggested a high-stakes bet in the event of a golf competition with his would-be victim.<\/p>\n

A round of golf “with the racist pig, he wins, he can execute me, I win, I get his job,” he said, apologizing to “hillbilly” Vice President JD Vance<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the motion, he also requested “female strippers” and a “putting green” to practice for the hypothetical competition.<\/p>\n

Moreover, he said it was “absurd” that prosecutors want to present new evidence two weeks before the start of the trial. The judge presiding over the case unsealed the prosecution’s 33-page list of exhibits that could be introduced as evidence during trial proceedings.<\/p>\n

Routh’s trial, scheduled to start with opening statements on Sept. 11, is expected to last about four weeks. The defendant will be representing himself after refusing to cooperate with his court-appointed legal team<\/a>, although defense attorneys must remain as standby counsel throughout the trial.<\/p>\n

Routh faces multiple federal charges in connection with his alleged attempted assassination of Trump during the 2024 election cycle. The charges include possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, an assault against a federal officer, and attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate.<\/p>\n

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n

Routh is also subject to state charges<\/a>, issued by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, related to attempted first-degree murder and terrorism.<\/p>\n

Tuesday’s filing is not the first time Routh has made a strange offer. In July, he proposed that the United States could trade him in a prisoner swap with Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, or Hamas.<\/p>\n

“What an easy diplomatic victory for Trump to give an American he hates to China, Iran, or North Korea, or wherever, as a gesture of peace in exchange for an unjustly held democratic prisoner<\/a>,” he wrote to U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon. “Everyone wins.”<\/p>\n

If convicted, Routh could face life in prison or the death penalty.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
