A federal judge ruled that former president Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Los Angeles to combat crime violated federal law<\/a>. U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer of the Northern District of california issued the order, stating that the use of military troops to enforce civilian laws in California breaches the Posse Comitatus Act, which limits federal troops’ involvement in such activities.Although troops had been deployed amid protests and instances of violence, Judge Breyer noted there was no rebellion and civilian law enforcement<\/a> was capable of managing the situation. This decision is considered a legal victory for California Governor Gavin Newsom and raises crucial questions regarding presidential authority over troop deployments for domestic law enforcement<\/a>.
