His body was discovered by a United Cajun Navy volunteer, who observed alligators attempting to move the remains. Efforts were made to distract the alligators so authorities could recover the body. Following the discovery, suspicion fell on Bryan&#8217;s mother, Hilda Vasquez. Records revealed that she had a prior conviction for child cruelty related to injuries Bryan suffered as an infant, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >including severe trauma consistent<\/a> with abuse. \t\t\t\t}); \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>There appear to have been two alligators trying to take what remained of Bryan&rsquo;s body and move it elsewhere in the lagoon.<\/p>\n<p>Gusanders attempted using the drone to distract the creatures and get them to leave the body alone, which eventually succeeded.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We did everything we could to protect his body, to protect his honor,&rdquo; Gusanders said. &ldquo;The NOPD got their boat out to successfully recover him.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>After Bryan&rsquo;s body was recovered, Hilda Vasquez, his mother, fell under renewed suspicion.<\/p>\n<p>New Orleans Police Department confirmed that she had been served with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/attorney-client-privilege-federal-prosecutors-for-sdny-working-to-seize-rudy-giulianis-emails\/\" title=\"\u201cAttorney-Client Privilege?\u201d \u2013 Federal Prosecutors for SDNY Working to Seize Rudy Giuliani\u2019s Emails\">search warrant<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wdsu.com\/article\/court-records-reveal-troubling-past-for-mother-of-missing-boy\/65923162\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WDSU-TV<\/a> revealed that Vasquez had previously been convicted of simple cruelty over injuries Bryan received in 2013, when he was just three months old.<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Records show New Orleans mother of boy killed by alligators was convicted of child abuse\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YLUUxzDCEXw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The boy had a collapsed lung, retinal hemorrhages, fractured ankles, fractured legs, and a fractured skull, plus other injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The doctors believed the injuries were consistent with child <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/man-allegedly-gets-6-roblox-groomers-arrested-now-roblox-banned-threatening-lawsuit-according-predator-hunter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abuse<\/a>, per WDSU.<\/p>\n<p>Vasquez was sentenced to five years in prison, but she received probation and later regained custody of Bryan.<\/p>\n<p>Then she was arrested for a probation violation in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Christiane Rosales Fajardo, a spokesman for the Vasquez family, issued a statement regarding Vasquez&rsquo;s possible involvement in the death of Bryan.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;All I can say is that as a community advocate for this community I know for a fact in Hilda&rsquo;s past she was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/parents-heroically-thwart-toddler-abduction-at-virginia-mall-violent-suspect-behind-bars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">victim<\/a> of domestic violence,&rdquo; Fajardo said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I know that in her past she has done everything to protect her children and that her child was living with her at the time he walked out of the house,&rdquo; the statement continued.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;All four of her children was living with her so if the state and DCFS believe she is a danger then that means they failed him again,&rdquo;
