The move teed up a contentious legal fight.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cook <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/finance-and-economy\/3783022\/federal-reserve-governor-lisa-cook-files-lawsuit-to-stop-illegal-firing-by-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filed a lawsuit in federal court<\/a> on Thursday that claimed Trump&rsquo;s move is &ldquo;illegal&rdquo; and is an effort to control the central bank.
