A federal judge<\/a> dismissed Georgia Attorney General chris Carr’s campaign finance lawsuit against Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones. Carr had sought to block Jones from raising unlimited funds for his gubernatorial campaign through a leadership committee allowed under a 2021 Georgia law.the judge ruled<\/a> that Carr and his campaign lacked legal standing as Jones was acting within the bounds of state law. The lawsuit challenged the funding disparity as unfair, but the court noted that Carr failed to directly contest the law’s constitutionality. This ruling enables Jones to continue raising unlimited funds<\/a> through his leadership committee ahead of the 2026 Republican primary to succeed term-limited Governor Brian Kemp. Carr, who cannot form such a committee, is limited by lower fundraising caps. The decision also comes shortly after Jones received former President Donald Trump’s endorsement in the race.
