Mark Teixeira,a former Major League Baseball player and 2009 World Series champion,has announced<\/a> his campaign for Texas’s 21st congressional district seat<\/a><\/a>,currently held by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), who is retiring to run for Texas Attorney General. Teixeira emphasized his conservative values and commitment to defending the “America first” agenda, Texas families, and individual liberty. Having been a top MLB draft pick, Teixeira played for teams including the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees before retiring and settling in central Texas with his family. As of the announcement, he is the only Republican candidate running for the seat. Meanwhile, Chip Roy’s bid for Attorney General includes endorsements from Sen. Ted Cruz, while the current Attorney General, Ken Paxton, who is running for the Senate, has endorsed another candidate, Aaron Reitz.
