This year&rsquo;s Transportation Security Administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TSA\/posts\/news-alert-tsa-projects-174m-individuals-will-travel-this-labor-day-holiday-week\/1296342312155469\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">travel estimate<\/a> for Thursday, Aug. 28, through Wednesday, Sept. 3, exceeds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsa.gov\/news\/press\/releases\/2024\/08\/21\/tsa-readies-for-busiest-labor-day-travel-period-record-provides-top\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">last year<\/a>&lsquo;s estimate by 400,000.<\/p>\n<p>People traveling for the holiday by plane won&rsquo;t be able to get far with just a typical state-issued driver&rsquo;s license because TSA no longer accepts it as a valid form of ID, even for domestic travel. Airports will accept REAL IDs, U.S. passports, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-states-are-preparing-for-the-looming-real-id-deadline\/\" title=\"How states are preparing for the looming Real ID deadline\">enhanced driver&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s licenses, foreign-issued passports, and other forms of identification <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsa.gov\/travel\/security-screening\/identification\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">listed on their website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For those traveling by car this Labor Day weekend, the <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.aaa.com\/2025\/08\/22566\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AAA<\/a> does not recommend hitting the road in the afternoon any day this week. Here are the <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.aaa.com\/2025\/08\/22566\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">best times to travel by car<\/a> each day this weekend, according to AAA and transportation data provider INRIX:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Thursday before 1 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Friday before 12 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Saturday between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.<\/li>\n<li>Sunday before 11 a.m.<\/li>\n<li>Monday before 12 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For travelers driving at night who want to avoid traffic, plan on hitting the road after 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, after 6 p.m. on Saturday, after 5 p.m. on Sunday, and after 4 p.m. on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Labor Day car travelers should also expect to save gas money this year, as regular gas prices per gallon are $0.166 less than last year, the U.S. Energy Information Administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/petroleum\/gasdiesel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reports<\/a>. The $3.15 per gallon national average is the lowest that gas prices have been over Labor Day since 2020, according to a forecast from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gasbuddy.com\/newsroom\/pressrelease\/2025\/08\/26\/1161\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GasBuddy<\/a>, a platform aimed at helping the public save money on fuel.<\/p>\n<p>Seattle, Orlando, and New York City are the top domestic travel cities this Labor Day, while Vancouver, Canada, and Rome, Italy, are the top destinations of international travel, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.aaa.com\/2025\/08\/22566\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AAA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3784125\/labor-day-gas-prices-lowest-in-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LABOR DAY GAS PRICES EXPECTED TO BE LOWEST IN YEARS<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The top cities on the domestic and international lists are Seattle and Vancouver, both port cities for Alaska cruises.
