Washington Examiner<\/em> Editor-in-Chief Hugo Gurdon <\/a>talks about how an American stabbed in Germany isn’t an issue isolated to the European country – or Europe – alone, and that it is related to “a grievous version of the problem that we had with open borders here” in America.<\/p>\n

John Rudat, 21, was an American tourist traveling in Dresden early Sunday when he reportedly stepped in as two women were being attacked by a pair of Syrian men, according to an online fundraiser<\/a> set up by his brother’s girlfriend, Molly Sheldon. During Rudat’s intervention, he was allegedly stabbed in the face by a Syrian asylum seeker in Germany.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Fox News’s The Will Cain Show<\/em> Monday, Gurdon said, “Europe is suffering from a grievous version of the problem that we had with open borders here, where there was an uncontrolled flood.”<\/p>\n
Moreover “they are hostile to the indigenous populations, and it is causing absolute outrage in country after country. Just one or two countries like Poland, for example, which do not allow immigrants in, but there are no borders between many of the countries in Europe, so many of these predatory and aggressive, violent people, can spread across the continent. And frankly this young American who tried to step in, obviously a very brave young man<\/a>, tried to stop women from being harassed,” Gurdon said before concluding, “Women all over the continent say they no longer feel safe.”<\/p>\n
Host Will Cain then inquired about issues in America about asylum seekers, legitimate asylum claims, and the crimes that are associated with “a clash of cultures.”<\/p>\n
Gurdon confirms Cain’s input, saying, “There is a clash of cultures, and actually it’s been going on and getting worse for years, for decades.” <\/p>\n
“The asylum system is entirely broken. People abuse it. And the thing is that the weak leadership across the continent of Europe, the politicians are not doing anything about it and there is a growing sense of outrage in these countries and indeed these countries are getting to the boiling point.” <\/p>\n
Gurdon points to an example close to home: “Just for my own country, England, there is now a movement where English people are hanging up the flag of England, which is the cross of St. George, and it’s an angry gesture of patriotism, suggesting that they are coming to the absolute last moment where they are willing to tolerate this. It’s being said that if the government doesn’t do anything about it, the people will take things into their own hands and it is getting close to that point.”<\/p>\n

The United States Embassy in Berlin released a statement regarding the attack on X, saying: “We strongly condemn the brutal attack on an American citizen in Dresden. While courageously intervening to protect a fellow passenger, he was viciously attacked. We urge German authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice and punish them to the fullest extent permitted by law. Safety is a collective responsibility—no one is safe until all are safe.”<\/a><\/p>\n
