The injunction,issued by U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams, also prohibits the camp from accepting new detainees. The order resulted from a lawsuit filed by environmentalists and the Miccosukee Tribe, who argued the expansion threatened the Everglades&#8217; restoration and conservation efforts. Williams emphasized that her ruling upheld longstanding commitments by politicians to protect the Everglades. Ron DeSantis vowed to fight after a federal judge on Thursday blocked the expansion of &ldquo;Alligator Alcatraz,&rdquo; the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/largest-ever-immigrant-detention-site-opened-at-fort-bliss-in-el-paso-texas\/\" title=\"Largest-ever immigrant detention site opened at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas\">immigrant detention camp<\/a> in the Florida Everglades.<\/p>\n<p>Two weeks prior, U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams ordered a temporary halt on the expansion; Thursday&rsquo;s preliminary injunction merely formalized the order, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/federal-judge-blocks-florida-from-further-expansion-alligator-alcatraz-immigration-detention-facility\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Williams also barred the facility from accepting any more detainees, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/alligator-alcatraz-florida-construction-halted-judge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-florida-puts-rainbow-crosswalks-crosshairs-cities-face-deadlines-remove\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DeSantis<\/a> had anticipated the pushback, telling Fox News in an interview that the &ldquo;fix was in.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We totally expected an adverse ruling,&rdquo; DeSantis told Fox News. &ldquo;And we also knew we were going to immediately appeal and get that decision stayed. she said.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the Florida Division of Emergency Management, which oversees <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/galleries\/inside-alligator-alcatraz-photos-reveal-floridas-new-deportation-fortress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the camp&rsquo;s operations<\/a>, filed an intent to appeal the decision in court, according to the Tampa Bay Times.<\/p>\n<p>The Eleventh Circuit Court hasn&rsquo;t yet assigned a docket number to the case.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;re going to continue to do what we need to do to help the Trump administration remove illegal aliens from our country.
