The couple were hiking with two of their children, aged 7 and 9, who were unharmed during the attack. The motive and any connection between McGann and the victims remain unclear.McGann,who recently moved to Arkansas to teach at Springdale Public Schools after previous teaching positions in Texas and Oklahoma,has <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >faced parental complaints alleging inappropriate conduct<\/a> toward female students,though no evidence was found in a prior investigation. The charges mean he is eligible for the death penalty in the state. The parents left behind their three daughters.<\/p>\n<p>The attacker&rsquo;s motive and his connection to the victims remain unknown at this time.<\/p>\n<p>After teaching in Oklahoma and Texas, McGann recently moved to Arkansas for a teaching position at Springdale Public Schools this fall. The Brink family also moved to Arkansas this year.<\/p>\n<p>Although he passed background checks for his jobs, the teacher has been the subject of parents&rsquo; complaints. He allegedly groomed female students, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/arkansas-hiking-devils-den-random-stabbing-murder-rcna222236\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"according to\">according to<\/a> one parent. The Lewisville Independent School District in Texas, where he once taught, said its internal investigation &ldquo;did not find any evidence of inappropriate behavior with a student.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>McGann barely spoke and showed little emotion during the 30-minute arraignment, an Arkansas county prosecutor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nwahomepage.com\/news\/devils-den-double-homicide-suspect-pleads-not-guilty-to-capital-murder-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"told\">told<\/a> a local news outlet.
