These leaks aimed to portray Russian interference in the 2016 election, despite intelligence assessments that found no specific Russian support for Trump. A whistleblower from Schiff&#8217;s House intelligence Committee staff accused him of &#8220;treasonous&#8221; and &#8220;illegal&#8221; activity related to these leaks. Schiff denies the claims, calling the whistleblower a disgruntled former employee. Gurdon accused Schiff of being a key architect of the misleading narrative to benefit his political career. Schiff, now a senator, is also facing unrelated mortgage fraud allegations. This whistleblower alleged that Schiff was engaging in &ldquo;treasonous&rdquo; and &ldquo;illegal&rdquo; behavior by authorizing leaks to hurt the public perception of Trump&rsquo;s 2016 election win.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Schiff&rsquo;s leaks were an attempt to suggest Russia was meddling in the election.
