Chip Roy (R-Texas) is reportedly considering a run for Texas attorney general in the 2026 elections. Currently serving in the House sence 2019, Roy is known as a fiscal hawk and a vocal member of the Freedom Caucus. Roy stated he is always considering ways to best serve Texas while promoting a free,secure,and prosperous state. The current attorney general, Republican Ken Paxton, is challenging incumbent Sen. He has fought many battles with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) as he navigates a razor-thin majority and balances demands from his right and centrist flanks on contentious legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Before representing Texas&rsquo;s 21st Congressional District, Roy was chief of staff to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and staff director for the Senate Judiciary Committee under Cornyn. In 2014, he served as the assistant attorney general under Paxton.<\/p>\n<p>If he jumps into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/george-p-bush-talks-to-trump-about-political-options-for-texas\/\" title=\"George P. Bush Talks to Trump About Political Options for Texas\">attorney general race<\/a>, Roy would face state Sens. Mayes Middleton and Joan Huffman.
