In fact, they&rsquo;re being obstructionists when it comes to getting dangerous criminals off their streets,&rdquo; Noem said. &ldquo;That includes Governor [JB] Pritzker, Mayor [Brandon] Johnson, and others who have worked so hard to protect these dangerous criminals. They&rsquo;d rather be a sanctuary state and continue to put those individuals above American citizens.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Noem pointed to four recent arrests that ICE made in Illinois communities, including a Mexican man who was previously convicted for predatory sexual criminal assault against a victim under 13 years old, a Polish man convicted of attempted murder and aggravated domestic battery, and a Micronesian national who was convicted for driving under the influence three times.<\/p>\n<p>The press conference follows the&nbsp;Justice Department&rsquo;s Tuesday move of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/3491161\/justice-department-sanctuary-cities-states-list-eradicate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">publishing <\/a>a list of cities, counties, and states that identify as&nbsp;&ldquo;sanctuary&rdquo;&nbsp;zones or places where law enforcement will not turn over&nbsp;illegal immigrants&nbsp;to federal immigration authorities.
