Pritzker to block a redistricting effort that could potentially increase Republican seats in the House of Representatives. Cornyn claims the fleeing legislators violated their oath of office and may be committing crimes by soliciting donations to avoid fines, suggesting possible bribery or corruption. John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, sent a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel this week asking for assistance in tracking down Democratic lawmakers who fled the state to avoid voting on a congressional redistricting plan.<\/p>\n<p>Cornyn cited how the 50 Texas House Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/facing-loss-nearly-half-house-seats-texas-dem-lawmakers-literally-flee-state-stop-gop-redistricting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">were trying to<\/a> deny Republicans a quorum in an attempt to block the new district map. The redistricting push could add as many as five seats to the Republican total in the House of Representatives next November.<\/p>\n<p>The move &mdash; though legal &mdash; was seen by some Democrats as underhanded.<\/p>\n<p>It later triggered several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dem-governor-threatens-break-constitution-illegal-redistricting-move-stop-dem-bleeding-gop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">outbursts<\/a>, along with threats of political retaliation from left-leaning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/roughed-dem-arrested-dragged-hearing-screaming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">states<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the Democrats fled to one such state, Illinois, with the help of Illinois Democratic Gov. National Guard to Begin &#039;Turn Back&#039; Program at Rio Grande, Says Governor\">aid state law enforcement<\/a> when parties cross state lines, including to avoid testifying or fleeing a scene of a crime.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>He continued, &ldquo;Specifically, I am concerned that legislators who solicited or accepted funds to aid in their efforts to avoid their legislative duties may be guilty of bribery or other public corruption offenses.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Cornyn also mentioned how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/texas-delivers-spectacular-blow-woke-public-school-teachers-slowly-bringing-god-back-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Texas<\/a> Republican Gov. Greg Abbott is using state resources to do what he can &ldquo;within the confines of the law, but federal help may be necessary.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;These legislators have <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >committed potential criminal acts<\/a> in their rush to avoid their constitutional responsibilities and must be fully investigated and held accountable,&rdquo; Cornyn concluded. &ldquo;I urge you to work with Texas public officials to provide them the support they need.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Cornyn is correct. These lawmakers took oaths.
