This is an ongoing process; that&rsquo;s the first thing,&rdquo; he said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/kremlin-plays-down-trump-submarine-order-urges-caution-nuclear-rhetoric-2025-08-04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&ldquo;But in general, of course, we would not want to get involved in such a controversy and would not want to comment on it in any way. None have translated into action. Peskov would not characterize Trump&rsquo;s comments as an escalation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&ldquo;We do not believe that we are talking about any escalation now. It is clear that very complex, very <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tufts-closes-china-backed-confucius-institute-after-protests\/\" title=\"Tufts Closes China-Backed Confucius Institute After Protests\">sensitive issues<\/a> are being discussed, which, of course, are perceived very emotionally by many people,&rdquo; he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asked if Medvedev had been told to tone down his language, Peskov replied, &ldquo;The main thing, of course, is the position of President Putin.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trump envoy Steve Witkoff may make a trip to Russia this week, although past trips to negotiate a peace in Ukraine have produced no agreements from Russia to stop the war.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&ldquo;We are always happy to see Mr. Witkoff in Moscow and are always happy to have contact. We consider these contacts important, meaningful and very useful,&rdquo; Peskov said, <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/International\/trump-envoy-witkoff-head-russia-chance-ukraine-talks\/story?id=124336363\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ABC News<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.On Sunday, Trump said that the submarines he ordered moved have reached their positions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve already put out a statement. The answer is, they are in the region,&rdquo; Trump said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/world\/2025\/08\/03\/trump-nuclear-submarines-tension-sanctions-russia\/85502616007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USA Today<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trump said if his deadline for a deal passes without one due to Russian intransigence, &ldquo;There&rsquo;ll be sanctions.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&ldquo;But they seem to be pretty good at avoiding sanctions,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;You know, they&rsquo;re wily characters. &hellip; So we&rsquo;ll see what happens.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trump said he wants a deal to stop Russia attacking Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&ldquo;And now we&rsquo;re adding towns, where they&rsquo;re being hit by missiles,&rdquo; Trump said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even as Peskov offered soothing words, Russian lawmaker Viktor Vodolatsky said Russia is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-russia-threatens-global-nuclear-fire-ukrainian-drone-strikes-moscow-no-way\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ready to rumble<\/a>, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/russian-lawmaker-responds-trump-moving-nuclear-subs-2108154\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newsweek<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&ldquo;There are significantly more of our [nuclear] submarines in the world&rsquo;s oceans, [and they] have the strongest, most powerful weapons,&rdquo; Vodolatsky said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&ldquo;This is why, let [Trump&rsquo;s] two boats float.
