The reason for the move remains unclear, though it occurred after Maxwell spoke with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. The House Oversight Committee issued a subpoena for Maxwell to be deposed on Aug. 11. Maxwell&rsquo;s attorneys suggested she would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3485222\/ghislaine-maxwell-epstein-house-testimony-advance-questions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">consider<\/a> the deposition in exchange for an advanced look at the questions. <\/p>\n<p>She has also been pressing for a pardon from President Donald Trump, which he has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3482148\/trump-pardon-ghislaine-maxwell-epstein-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">acknowledged<\/a> he can do. Her lawyers have also appealed to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3483918\/ghislaine-maxwell-files-supreme-court-brief-amid-doj-talks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Supreme Court<\/a> to overturn her sex trafficking conviction.<\/p>\n<p>David Oscar Markus, a Maxwell attorney, confirmed to USA Today that she has been moved to Texas.<\/p>\n<p>The family of the late Virginia Giuffre expressed concern to USA Today over the move. Giuffre committed suicide in April 2025 and was one of Epstein&rsquo;s first accusers. She&rsquo;ll go from a low-security Tallahassee facility to a minimum-security prison camp in Texas.
