The White House cited data showing brand-name drugs in the United States are up to three times more expensive than identical drugs in other similarly developed nations.<\/p>\n<p>Trump demanded that the companies extend his cheaper pricing plan to every Medicaid patient and guarantee the lower pricing for every new drug, among other changes.<\/p>\n<p>The White House gave the Big Pharma heads until Sept. 29 to implement the changes.<\/p>\n<p>In May, the president signed an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/05\/delivering-most-favored-nation-prescription-drug-pricing-to-american-patients\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"executive order\">executive order<\/a> tasking agency leaders with creating the most-favored-nation pricing model to end &ldquo;global freeloading&rdquo; and &ldquo;price discrimination&rdquo; against U.S. patients.
