Instead of investigating those causes, however, Americans who just learned their replacement rate had officially lagged to 1.6 children per woman were bombarded with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medscape.com\/viewarticle\/first-hormone-free-male-pill-yct-529-shows-early-promise-2025a1000cn6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">headlines<\/a> promoting <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2018\/03\/27\/dear-media-men-arent-going-take-pill-effectively-castrate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">yet another<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6376202234112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;promising&rdquo;<\/a> new male contraceptive pill.<\/p>\n<p>The hormone-free YCT-529&nbsp;pill aims to hamper sperm production. The scientists running the first round of clinical trials <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s43856-025-01004-4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">concluded last week<\/a> that the chemical &ldquo;had no effects on heart rate, hormone (follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, and testosterone), sex hormone-binding globulin or inflammatory biomarker levels, sexual desire or mood.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Whether or not the pill actually does what it say is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scientificamerican.com\/article\/male-birth-control-pill-yct-529-passes-human-safety-test\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">yet to be determined.<\/a> Regardless, YCT-549 is already gaining interest and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/25\/health\/birth-control-pill-for-men-passes-first-human-safety-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">publicity<\/a>. The addition of another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/what-exactly-happens-in-chinese-concentration-camps\/\" title=\"What Exactly Happens In Chinese Concentration Camps?\">birth control pill<\/a> into a market saturated with a myriad of contraceptive contraptions, drugs, and even abortion, though, is nothing to celebrate. <\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s no secret that the widespread use of these pregnancy preventers and abortive practices has drastically impacted the nation&rsquo;s fertility rate. <\/p>\n<p>Sure, the roots of America&rsquo;s increasing birth rate crisis, which only compounded the more industrialized the nation became, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1033027\/fertility-rate-us-1800-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">complicated<\/a>. The post-World War II baby boom further threw a wrench into the mix. <\/p>\n<div>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Many factors can affect societies&rsquo; fertility statuses, but there&rsquo;s no denying that drugs claiming to prevent pregnancy have played a key role in keeping the number of kids couples have at a minimum. After the introduction of <a href=\"https:\/\/journalofethics.ama-assn.org\/article\/history-oral-contraception\/2000-06\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">female oral contraception in 1960<\/a>, the number of women getting pregnant and having babies took a real turn for the worse.<\/p>\n<p>The more normalized that pill-form birth control, Margaret Sanger&rsquo;s infamous abortion campaign, and society&rsquo;s obsession with having sex without consequences (or blessings) became, the less people had babies. The rise in <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/03\/31\/chappell-roans-belief-that-raising-children-is-hell-is-out-of-touch-and-out-of-line\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">anti-kid rhetoric<\/a> and more recent inventions such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/03\/04\/fda-willing-to-protect-unborn-babies-against-birth-defects-but-not-murder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abortive &ldquo;morning after&rdquo; drug<\/a> have only exacerbated the 65-year decline in births.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, male testosterone levels have taken quite a tumble. <\/p>\n<p>As more men are experiencing <a href=\"https:\/\/health.clevelandclinic.org\/declining-testosterone-levels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tanking testosterone<\/a>, which is crucial for sperm production, and a host of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/01\/erectile-dysfunction-is-now-so-common-men-can-get-remedies-over-the-counter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">related<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/01\/healthy-males-have-high-sex-drives-but-todays-men-dont\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">side<\/a> effects, their chances of successfully conceiving become limited. As a result, couples who struggle to get pregnant turn to ethically and morally problematic assisted reproductive technology such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) and surrogacy to achieve their dreams of becoming parents, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/09\/babies-by-any-means-necessary-wont-fix-the-wests-fertility-woes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">which are not healthy fertility rate fixes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The last thing men struggling to produce enough of the masculinity hormone and a nation struggling to produce enough babies need is to further interrupt bodies&rsquo; natural means of reproducing by seeking, even if not permanently, to stop manufacturing sperm.<\/p>\n<p>The fertility rate plays a key role in preventing <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/25\/american-birth-rates-rates-drop-to-levels-of-civilizational-suicide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">civilizational decline<\/a>. Yes, the causes behind America&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/japanese-prime-minister-appoints-minister-of-loneliness-to-combat-rise-in-suicide\/\" title=\"Japanese Prime Minister Appoints \u2018Minister Of Loneliness\u2019 To Combat Rise In Suicide\">falling birth rate<\/a> are complicated.
