Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, both Republicans, joined Democrats in opposing his nomination.Bove&#8217;s confirmation followed a party-line vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee and a cloture vote where the same senators opposed him. His nomination was met with intense opposition from democrats and media allies who launched a smear campaign, including whistleblower complaints alleging misconduct during his tenure at the Department of Justice (DOJ). One whistleblower,former subordinate Erez Reuveni,accused Bove of instructing DOJ staff to ignore court orders related to deportations,but documents and Bove&#8217;s own testimony refuted these claims. Reuveni himself was suspended and fired over his performance, with records suggesting he attempted to influence litigation for personal benefit. Despite last-minute allegations published by the Washington Post and calls for further investigations by Democrat senators, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley defended Bove&#8217;s qualifications and integrity. GOP Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska joined Democrats in voting against Bove&rsquo;s nomination. <\/p>\n<p>Bove&rsquo;s nomination was advanced to the full Senate by the Senate Judiciary Committee in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/07\/17\/politics\/emil-bove-nomination-senate-committee-vote\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">party-line vote<\/a> on July 17. The upper chamber subsequently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/nomination\/119th-congress\/346\/2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voted<\/a> to invoke cloture on his nomination last Thursday, with Collins and Murkowski joining Democrats in opposition.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-442664424\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Sens. Katie Britt, R-Ala., and Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., did not partake in last week&rsquo;s cloture vote. <\/p>\n<p>Bove&rsquo;s confirmation comes after weeks of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/06\/27\/the-same-democrats-trying-to-discredit-emil-bove-had-no-worries-confirming-activist-judges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attacks<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/01\/surviving-the-smear-campaign-emil-bove-shines-at-confirmation-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">from<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/18\/emil-bove-will-be-an-effective-pro-liberty-judge-and-that-makes-democrats-angry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Democrats<\/a> and their media allies, who have collectively sought to bully weak-kneed GOP senators into tanking the senior Justice Department official&rsquo;s nomination to the bench. <\/p>\n<p>To accomplish this goal, these <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >left-wing actors weaponized multiple whistleblower complaints<\/a>, which alleged wrongdoing by Bove during his time at the DOJ.<\/p>\n<p>One of the identified whistleblowers is a former Bove underling, Erez Reuveni, who came forward with claims that Bove advocated for ignoring federal court orders related to the administration&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/whistleblowers-texts-allude-to-alleged-bove-directive-to-defy-court-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deportation efforts<\/a>. Documents previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/11\/new-docs-shatter-leftist-claims-emil-bove-ordered-former-doj-official-to-defy-court-orders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> by The Federalist, however, indicate Reuveni&rsquo;s assertions aren&rsquo;t true.<\/p>\n<p>During his late June confirmation hearing, Bove emphatically rejected Reuveni&rsquo;s claims and blasted the media&rsquo;s characterization of the type of judge he would be if confirmed by the Senate. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I am someone who tries to stand up for what I believe is right,&rdquo; Bove&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/06\/26\/emil-bove-blasts-wildly-inaccurate-media-smear-campaign-in-nomination-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m not afraid to make difficult decisions. I understand that some of those decisions have generated controversy. &hellip; I want to be clear about one thing up front: There is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bove-blasts-wildly-inaccurate-media-smear-in-nomination-hearing\/\" title=\"Bove Blasts &#039;Wildly Inaccurate&#039; Media Smear in Nomination Hearing\">wildly inaccurate caricature<\/a> of me in the mainstream media. I am not anybody&rsquo;s henchman. I&rsquo;m not an enforcer. I&rsquo;m a lawyer from a small town who never expected to be in an arena like this.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Additional records <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/24\/docs-fired-doj-official-sought-to-sway-trump-admins-handling-of-venezuelan-deportation-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">obtained<\/a> by The Federalist show that Reuveni &mdash; who was suspended and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/07\/10\/us\/politics\/trump-bove-reuveni-whistleblower-doj-deportations.html\">fired<\/a> from the DOJ following his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/trump-admin-suspends-lawyer-case-maryland-man-mistakenly-deported-failing-zealously-advocate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">alleged failure <\/a>to advocate on behalf of the administration in court &mdash; advised his DOJ colleagues on how to &ldquo;sway&rdquo; litigation strategy in a case involving the deportation of Venezuelan gang members <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/24\/docs-fired-doj-official-sought-to-sway-trump-admins-handling-of-venezuelan-deportation-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in a way he found to be personally favorable<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Legacy media have also partaken in Democrat-led efforts to tank Bove&rsquo;s nomination. <\/p>\n<p>On Monday, The Washington Post ran a last-minute <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/29\/wapos-latest-emil-bove-hit-piece-is-a-pathetic-excuse-for-journalism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hit piece<\/a> against Bove containing vague allegations from an anonymous whistleblower that Bove &ldquo;misled&rdquo; lawmakers on a certain DOJ case during his Senate testimony. The hatchet job was later updated to note that the whistleblower&rsquo;s supposed evidence against Bove pertains to his &ldquo;handling of the dismissal of public corruption charges against New York Mayor Eric Adams.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Much like the original, however, the updated version of the piece does not specify how Bove allegedly &ldquo;misled&rdquo; lawmakers about the issue or what the evidence is proving such a claim.<\/p>\n<p>Following the WaPo hit piece, Democrat Senators leveraged smears against Bove to urge an 11th-hour probe from the DOJ acting inspector general, Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2025\/07\/29\/congress\/emil-bove-doj-inspector-general-00481131\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/senate-confirms-trump-nominee-emil-bove-appeals-court-whistleblowers-rcna221781\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NBC<\/a>, &ldquo;Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, dismissed the complaints raised by the third whistleblower as &lsquo;another breathless accusation&#8217;&rdquo; just &ldquo;hours before the vote.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I support the nomination of Mr. Bove. He has a strong legal background and has served this country honorably.
