Boasberg reportedly told fellow judges and Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts that his colleagues were &ldquo;concern[ed] that the Administration would disregard rulings of federal courts leading to a constitutional crisis,&rdquo; according to a memo <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/16\/exclusive-memo-reveals-d-c-judges-are-predisposed-against-trump-administration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"first reported\">reported<\/a> by the <em>Federalist<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Boasberg has sparred with the Trump administration for months over a court case involving the deportations of alleged Venezuelan gang members to El Salvador.<\/p>\n<p>The federal government argued the deportations were authorized under the Alien Enemies Act, but the Obama-appointed judge issued a temporary restraining order instructing the Trump administration to return airplanes carrying illegal immigrants from Venezuela that were already en route to a notorious prison in El Salvador. Boasberg entered the order after the planes had already departed, and the aircraft was thus not turned around.<\/p>\n<p>That order was issued on March 15, days after his comments to the other judges.<\/p>\n<p>President Donald Trump has been particularly critical of Boasberg, suggesting the federal judge should be impeached over his handling of the deportation case. Now the DOJ is getting involved.<\/p>\n<p>The new complaint alleges Boasberg violated ethical obligations through his public comments and calls for his removal from the case, in addition to disciplinary action.
