Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York to pay $2,983.28 after breaking some rules during her attendance at the 2021 Met Gala.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ethics.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Committee-Report-20250725-Rep.-Ocasio-Cortez.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House Ethics report<\/a> found that Ocasio-Cortez &ldquo;failed to fully comply with the Gift Rule by impermissibly accepting a gift of free admission to the 2021 Met Gala for her partner and by failing to pay full fair market value for some of the items worn to the event.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The report said no evidence was found that Ocasio-Cortez, who wore a dress screaming &ldquo;Tax the Rich&rdquo; to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ocasio-cortezs-schemes-green-outside-red-inside\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">event<\/a>, schemed to get around the rules.<\/p>\n<p>However, it said, &ldquo;the Committee did <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/aocs-met-gala-appearance-inconsistent-with-house-rules\/\" title=\"AOC&#039;s Met Gala appearance &#039;inconsistent&#039; the report said.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, the 31-page report said &ldquo;Ocasio-Cortez&rsquo;s conduct was inconsistent with House Rules, laws, and other standards of conduct with respect to her acceptance of certain goods and services associated with her attendance at the 2021 Met Gala, and her delay in making appropriate payment for their receipt.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;While the Committee did not find that Representative Ocasio-Cortez&rsquo;s violations were knowing and willful, she <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >nonetheless received impermissible gifts<\/a> and must bear responsibility for the other conduct that occurred with respect to the delays in payment,&rdquo; the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Casca, Ocasio-Cortez&rsquo;s chief of staff, said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/aoc-embroiled-congressional-ethics-controversy-marital-status-5-year-prison-sentence-broached\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">she will pay<\/a> what she was ordered to pay, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/aoc-house-ethics-probe-closed-met-gala-2025-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Business Insider<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Congresswoman appreciates the Committee finding that she made efforts to ensure her compliance with House Rules and sought to act consistently with her ethical requirements as a Member of the House,&rdquo;
