The group was largely in favor of redistricting to give Democrats another five to seven seats, according to two House Democrats who were in attendance.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Republican Texas Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jasmine-crockett-issues-unbelievable-explanation-mocked-texas-gov-greg-abbotts-paralysis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greg Abbott<\/a> was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ireland-joins-bidens-global-minimum-tax-plan\/\" title=\"Ireland Joins Biden\u2019s \u2018Global Minimum Tax\u2019 Plan\">initially hesitant<\/a> to embrace the Trump-backed redistricting push, according to the Tribune.<\/p>\n<p>The outlet reported Abbott changed his mind after a call with the president.<\/p>\n<p>Abbott&rsquo;s office was reportedly lobbied by White House staffers before Trump personally called the governor.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Abbott declined to comment on the call but said the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/court-denies-challenge-to-youngkins-voting-rights-restoration-process-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Court denies challenge to Youngkin\u2019s voting rights restoration process - Washington Examiner\">governor &#038;ldquo<\/a>;looks forward to the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >legislature addressing important topics<\/a>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Tribune also reported that most of Texas&rsquo;s Republican congressional delegation had expressed reservations about redistricting.<\/p>\n<p>Some feared the plan could backfire by spreading Republican voters too thin, jeopardizing their seats.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-reportedly-convinces-key-gop-rep-drop-gubernatorial-hopes-stick-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> reportedly spoke to GOP members in a recent call.<\/p>\n<p>Abbott later included redistricting on the agenda for the special legislative session that began Monday.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The message was clear among the delegation: there was no stopping the president and they should get on board,&rdquo; the Tribune reported.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If we can redraw Texas and it fits within all the confines of law and everything, well, then let&rsquo;s get &rsquo;er done,&rdquo; said Republican Texas Rep.
