Epstein was charged with sex trafficking before his death in 2019, and Maxwell was convicted in 2021. Following pressure from President Donald Trump for more openness, the DOJ has been asked to disclose data after initially stating no client list existed and no further info would be released. <\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Court Judge Paul Engelmayer has indicated that the government must provide additional materials before a decision can be made about making the transcripts public. The court emphasized the need to protect victim privacy and requested responses from the DOJ by July 29,with victims given until August 5 to provide input. Maxwell was convicted of sex trafficking in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-gets-bad-news-poll-epstein-dems-get-even-worse-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> last week directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to have information related to Epstein disclosed after a firestorm of anger when the Justice Department said that there was no Epstein client list, which Bondi had previously indicated existed, and that no further information would be forthcoming.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Court Judge Paul Engelmayer indicated Tuesday that the government has more work to do before he can decide on its request to make the transcripts public, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/judge-overseeing-doj-epstein-grand-jury-records-request\/story?id=123964265\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ABC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Court intends to resolve this motion expeditiously,&rdquo; \t\t\t\t}); \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;However, the Court cannot rule on the motion without additional submissions.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nysd.518649\/gov.uscourts.nysd.518649.63.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">order<\/a> also called for &ldquo;additional submissions from the government.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Engelmayer&rsquo;s order said the government had not adequately addressed any factors that would justify release of the transcripts, given that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/broward-schools-superintendent-arrested-on-perjury-charge\/\" title=\"Broward Schools Superintendent Arrested On Perjury Charge\">grand jury proceedings<\/a> are usual very secretive.<\/p>\n<p>The judge also stated, a response is due by July 29 and wants to know if the Justice Department has reviewed the transcripts and given victims of Maxwell and Epstein notice that the transcripts could be released.<\/p>\n<p>He wants the full transcripts and a proposed redacted version, which would be made public, filed.<\/p>\n<p>The victims were given until Aug. 5 to weigh in on releasing the transcripts.<\/p>\n<p>Maxwell&rsquo;s lawyers put in a claim to see the transcripts and indicated that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche does not object.<\/p>\n<p>Berman has asked for any party connected to Epstein&rsquo;s case to file a letter with him by Aug. 5 concerning the possible release of transcripts from that grand jury proceeding, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/07\/22\/us\/politics\/trump-epstein-files-redacted-bondi.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Berman indicated in his order that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/not-yet-epstein-victims-lawyer-says-come-court-doc-reveals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">victim privacy<\/a> would weigh heavily on his ruling, quoting a federal memo that said, &ldquo;Epstein harmed over one thousand victims. Each suffered unique trauma.
