NIU had 15 audit findings, many of which were repeated issues that the university described as not material and said they are addressing. NIU President Lisa Freeman expressed a desire to change a state law that requires work hours to be tracked in 15-minute increments as part of their corrective efforts.<\/p>\n<p>State senator Chapin Rose expressed frustration with the ongoing excuses and stressed that laws must be followed irrespective of debates about changing them. In contrast, NEIU reported that its faculty does fill out time cards in compliance with the law. NEIU, funded with nearly $40 million, had 11 audit findings, 8 of which were repeated. Chapin Rose, R-Mahomet, said enough is enough.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;You&rsquo;re a state employee. And quite frankly, the entire dialog about, well, which is a litany of excuses and opinions as to why this law should be ignored doesn&rsquo;t matter, because it&rsquo;s the law,&rdquo; Rose said. &ldquo;I am done with the excuse. You guys have tried for 20 years to change the law.
