But just because Biden may have stepped out of the spotlight doesn&rsquo;t mean the American people have forgotten that there was a mentally incapacitated president &lsquo;running&rsquo; the show.<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s why Republicans have called in several Biden White House aides to get to the bottom of what really went down. Except, none of them are willing to talk.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Annie Tomasini<\/h2>\n<p>On July 18, the former deputy chief of staff to then-President Joe Biden became the third aide to plead the Fifth as Republicans investigate the alleged cover-up of Biden&rsquo;s cognitive decline.<\/p>\n<p>Annie Tomasini took her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination on Friday during a deposition with the House Oversight Committee, Chairman James Comer <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepJamesComer\/status\/1946216738342744220\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said in a post<\/a> on X. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Annie Tomasini, former Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Oval Office Operations, pleaded the Fifth when asked if Joe Biden, a member of his family, or anyone at the White House instructed her to lie regarding his health at any time,&rdquo; Comer said in a post on X. &ldquo;She also pleaded the Fifth when asked if she ever advised President Biden on the handling of classified documents found in his garage, if President Biden or anyone in the White House instructed her to conceal or <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >destroy classified material found<\/a> at President Biden&rsquo;s home or office, and if she ever conspired with anyone in the White House to hide information regarding the Biden family&rsquo;s &lsquo;business&rsquo; dealings.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>2. Anthony Bernal<\/h2>\n<p>On July 16, Jill Biden&rsquo;s former chief of staff <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/16\/jill-bidens-work-husband-pleads-the-fifth-in-biden-white-house-cover-up-probe-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Anthony Bernal<\/a> also pleaded the Fifth when asked if &ldquo;Biden instructed him to lie about his health&rdquo; or &ldquo;if any unelected official or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jill-bidens-work-husband-pleads-the-fifth-in-autopen-probe\/\" title=\"...s &#039;Work Husband&#039; ...s The Fifth In Autopen Probe\">family members executed<\/a> the duties of the president,&rdquo; Comer said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/comer-statement-on-anthony-bernal-pleading-the-fifth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A day earlier, The New York Times released a story showing that, as described by The Federalist&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/16\/jill-bidens-work-husband-pleads-the-fifth-in-biden-white-house-cover-up-probe-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matt Kittle<\/a>, &ldquo;one of Biden&rsquo;s closest advisers approved the use of the autopen on midnight pardons,&rdquo; despite Biden telling The Times that he &ldquo;made every decision&rdquo; on the pardons and commutations issued as his term waned.<\/p>\n<p>Comer, when discussing Bernal&rsquo;s decision to plead the Fifth, referenced the bombshell report.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This week new reporting confirms President Biden&rsquo;s aides took unauthorized executive actions during his presidency amid his cognitive decline,&rdquo; Comer&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/comer-statement-on-anthony-bernal-pleading-the-fifth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s no surprise that Anthony Bernal is pleading the Fifth Amendment to shield himself from criminal liability.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>1. Kevin O&rsquo;Connor<\/h2>\n<p>On July 9, Dr. Kevin O&rsquo;Connor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/the-doctor-was-in-out-bidens-physician-invokes-fifth-amendment-during-deposition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">took the Fifth<\/a>. O&rsquo;Connor served as Biden&rsquo;s personal physician.<\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist&rsquo;s Shawn Fleetwood <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/09\/biden-doctors-refusal-to-answer-a-single-question-blows-up-the-doctor-patient-privilege-excuse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, &ldquo;According to a House Oversight Committee official, O&rsquo;Connor did not simply plead the Fifth on questions related to doctor-patient privilege, but on&nbsp;<em>any and<\/em>&nbsp;<em>all&nbsp;<\/em>prospective queries posed by lawmakers.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Surely that must mean that O&rsquo;Connor, Bernal, and Tomasini (along with any other Biden aids who choose to remain silent) are hiding something &mdash; at least that&rsquo;s the standard Democrat Rep. Bennie Thompson uses when individuals facing the Jan. 6 Committee invoked their Fifth Amendment right.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson, who chaired the sham committee, once told MSNBC that only those seeking to &ldquo;hide&rdquo; something plead the Fifth.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If you say you haven&rsquo;t done anything wrong, but on the other hand, you want to assert the Fifth Amendment in terms of self-prosecution, it says that you have something to hide,&rdquo; Thompson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2021\/12\/02\/january_6_committee_chairman_bennie_thompson_if_you_plead_the_fifth_youre_part_and_parcel_guilty.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>New York Democrat Rep. Dan Goldman <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/danielsgoldman\/status\/1557386148942577664\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> something similar in a 2022 post on X: &ldquo;The Fifth Amendment ensures that people are not forced to incriminate themselves. But you don&rsquo;t take the Fifth if you didn&rsquo;t do anything wrong.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>While these aides are entitled to their Fifth Amendment rights, their unwillingness to provide answers about Biden&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/harris-unserious-foreign-policy-is-a-national-security-threat\/\" title=\"Harris&#039; Unserious Foreign Policy Is A National Security Threat\">visible cognitive decline<\/a> and apparent efforts to cover it up only further emphasizes Americans&rsquo; need to know what truly happened during the Biden presidency.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Brianna Lyman is an elections correspondent at The Federalist.
