Just wow.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Mr. Incredulous (@Mr__Incredulous) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mr__Incredulous\/status\/1859347678129422461?\">November 20, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Are you trying to lose sales?<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; John Cardillo (@johncardillo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/johncardillo\/status\/1859372465450897455?\">November 20, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Nope, the fault, the BBC coverage implied, was solely with President Donald Trump and his tariff policies that are reframing international trade.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c86g2d7e4pwo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article itself<\/a> bore the noncommittal headline of &ldquo;Jaguar Land Rover to cut up to 500 UK jobs.&rdquo; But the word &ldquo;tariffs&rdquo; showed up right in the lede, giving readers an immediate hint on what conclusions they were supposed to draw.<\/p>\n<p>And since the BBC couldn&rsquo;t mine the company&rsquo;s statement for any hint that Trump is to blame for the company&rsquo;s woes &mdash; in its entirety, as quoted by the British business news site <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidermedia.com\/news\/midlands\/car-giant-jlr-to-cut-500-managerial-jobs-in-the-uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Insidermedia<\/a>, it didn&rsquo;t mention tariffs at all &mdash; the BBC did manage to pad out its report by using quotes from a professor at the University of Birmingham&rsquo;s Business School who said tariffs &ldquo;play a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trumps-transition-path-gets-boost-from-gop-senate-majority-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"...\u2019s transition path gets boost from GOP Senate majority - Washington Examiner\">big role&#038;rdquo<\/a>; in the job losses.<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s probably true. Any company that depends on exports like Jaguar is going to depend to some extent on international trade relations when it comes to making major decisions.<\/p>\n<p>But the BBC report ignored the fact that Jaguar&rsquo;s sales <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/remember-jaguars-woke-rebrand-never-guess-turned-maybe-will\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have been tanking<\/a> since its &ldquo;rebrand&rdquo; launched in November, with the goal of switching to an entirely electric vehicle product. On July 1, the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/01\/business\/jaguar-sales-plummet-after-botched-rebrand-ev-pivot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a> reported the company&rsquo;s sales in Europe had experienced a <em>97.5 percent<\/em> drop between June 2025 and July 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Again, those are sales in Europe &mdash; where U.S. tariff policy is a non-issue.<\/p>\n<p>Now, there&rsquo;s no doubt that a number of factors go into decision-making by a company like Jaguar Land Rover, and there&rsquo;s no doubt that Trump and his tariff plans are causing headaches for executives the world over, including the U.K.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Jaguar&rsquo;s public statement, according to InsiderMedia, specifically thanked the U.K. government for &ldquo;delivering at speed the new UK-US trade deal, which gives us the confidence to invest &pound;3.5bn per annum to realise our strategy which is delivering.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>But there&rsquo;s also no doubt that the company embarrassed itself on the international stage with a marketing decision that rivaled Bud Light&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/numbers-finally-know-much-damage-bud-light-boycott-anheuser-busch-brutal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">disastrous misalliance<\/a> with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/insane-trans-activist-dylan-mulvaney-releases-new-song-girl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">transgender fruitcake<\/a> Dylan Mulvaney.<\/p>\n<p>That, however, did not fit the politics of the BBC &mdash; an outlet with a reliably leftward slant on any issue. It&rsquo;s particularly noticeable when it comes to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bbc-forced-apologize-getting-report-israeli-operation-gaza-hospital-totally-backwards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coverage of Israel<\/a>&nbsp; and the BBC publishing terrorist propaganda, but pretty much any story that can make Trump look bad will be written to make Trump look bad. (The conservative <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.news.yahoo.com\/elon-musk-blows-major-hole-203511451.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.K. Telegraph<\/a> published a handy commentary piece on the subject in February.
