<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fast-trump-state-department-acts-foil-anti-semitic-rappers-made-global-headlines-death-idf-chant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the IDF<\/a> said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The military admitted the church was mistakenly struck by fragments from a shell.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;An initial inquiry&hellip; suggests that fragments from a shell fired during operational activity in the area hit the church mistakenly,&rdquo; the IDF said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The cause of the incident is under review,&rdquo; the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day, the IDF had acknowledged &ldquo;damage caused to the Holy Family Church in Gaza City and casualties at the scene.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-sistine-chapel-given-upgrade-vatican-firefighters-papal-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Vatican<\/a> also responded with a message from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-jd-vance-delivers-pope-leo-xiv-message-directly-donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pope Leo XIV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a message Thursday, Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin said the Pope was &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/at-least-28-muslim-pilgrims-die-in-accident-during-lengthy-journey\/\" title=\"At Least 28 Muslim Pilgrims Die in Accident During Lengthy Journey\">deeply saddened&#038;rdquo<\/a>; by the attack.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In commending the souls of the deceased to the loving mercy of Almighty God, the Holy Father prays for the consolation of those who grieve and for the recovery of the injured,&rdquo;
