The Dignity Act of 2025, which has some Republican backing, aims to <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >grant legal status-<\/a>not citizenship-to certain undocumented immigrants who have lived in the U.S. for over seven years, while also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/karine-jean-pierre-republicans-trying-to-get-more-funds-to-secure-the-border-a-political-stunt\/\" title=\"Karine Jean-Pierre dismisses Republican efforts for border security funds as a &#039;political stunt&#039;.\">increasing border security funding<\/a> and preventing businesses from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-lou-barletta-like-desantis-ill-bus-illegal-aliens-out-of-pennsylvania-to-bidens-delaware\/\" title=\"Exclusive--Lou Barletta: Like DeSantis, I&#039;ll Bus Illegal Aliens Out of Pennsylvania to Biden&#039;s Delaware\">hiring illegal workers<\/a>. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) and Maria Salazar (R-FL) dropped the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/files.constantcontact.com\/1849eea4801\/50eab3df-8bbe-4494-8cb9-489657b13ca9.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dignity Act<\/a>&nbsp;of 2025, a reworked version of an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/240956\/watch-rep-maria-salazar-unveils-dignity-act-to-fix-our-broken-immigration-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">earlier bill<\/a>, asking for support from Republican House members.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>However, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was noncommittal when asked if Trump would veto it.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;From my understanding, the White House nor the president has actually read through this legislation,&rdquo; Leavitt said, adding that Trump was busy with other bills such as the GENIUS Act and the rescissions legislation. &ldquo;But the president has made it very clear he will not support amnesty for illegal aliens in any way.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>She reiterated the point when asked about the bill a second time, a few minutes later.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/salazar.house.gov\/dignity-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The bill<\/a>&nbsp;would increase border security funding and prevent businesses from hiring illegal workers, but would also open up a path to lawful permanent status for those who have been in the country for longer than seven years.<\/p>\n<p>Ten Republicans have signed on as co-sponsors, which could be enough for the Dignity Act to pass the House if all Democrats support it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3473203\/vance-pennsylvania-beautiful-bill-biden-jokes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>VANCE TOUTS &lsquo;BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL&rsquo; AND TELLS BIDEN JOKES IN PENNSYLVANIA SPEECH<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Dignity Act offers a commonsense solution: certain undocumented immigrants can earn legal status, not citizenship, by working, paying taxes, and contributing to our country,&rdquo; Salazar said in a release. &ldquo;No handouts. No shortcuts. Just accountability and a path to stability for our economy and our future.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Trump has seemingly opened the door for exceptions to his immigration crackdown, notably saying the agriculture, hospitality, and restaurant sectors are dependent on workers without legal status.
