Kohberger admitted to killing Madison Mogen,kaylee Goncalves,Xana Kernodle,and ethan Chapin at a rental home near campus despite having no known connection to them. With the guilty plea removing the possibility of a death penalty and ending the trial scheduled for August,the judge ruled that the original reason for the gag order-to ensure an impartial jury-is no longer relevant. The judge emphasized the importance of the public and press&#8217;s First Amendment rights and allowed more information about the case to be shared, although some documents will be released gradually.Kohberger is set to be sentenced on July 23 and is expected to receive four consecutive life sentences without parole plus an additional 10 years. He had no known connection to the victims.<\/p>\n<p>Several news outlets, including the <em>Associated Press<\/em>, asked the judge overseeing the case to lift the gag order that prevented the dissemination of information about Kohberger&rsquo;s case. A different Idaho judge, who issued the gag order in the case&rsquo;s early stages, argued the publicity could harm the defendant&rsquo;s right to a fair trial.<\/p>\n<p>But as a result of Kohberger&rsquo;s plea deal with prosecutors, the trial is no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/moderna-halts-mrna-patent-with-federal-govt\/\" title=\"Moderna halts mRNA patent with federal govt.\">longer moving forward<\/a>. It was previously set to start Aug. 18.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Steven Hippler felt lifting the gag order was necessary to protect the First Amendment rights of the public and the press.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The primary purpose of the non-dissemination order, which is to ensure that we can seat an impartial jury, is no longer at play,&rdquo; Hippler said, adding the public&rsquo;s right to receive information about the case is &ldquo;paramount.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The judge noted that not all court documents would be immediately unsealed after lifting the gag order. They are expected to be made public eventually upon the court&rsquo;s review, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors initially didn&rsquo;t want the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trumps-gag-order-in-dc-election-interference-case-paused-by-appeals-court\/\" title=\"...s court halts Trump&#039;s ... in DC election interference case.\">gag order lifted<\/a> until after Kohberger&rsquo;s sentencing. They reversed course earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>Kohberger is set to be sentenced on July 23. Idaho<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Now, I recognize the plea agreement includes a waiver of the right to appeal,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;But as the parties probably know, the U.S. Supreme Court in <em>Garza v.
