Hochul Declares Racism a \u2018Public Health Crisis\u2019\">resigned amid allegations<\/a> of sexual misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement of her hospitalization came as the Senate remained in session into the night in what lawmakers dubbed a &ldquo;vote-a-rama.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/07\/16\/politics\/senate-trump-doge-cuts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>, lawmakers began debating a $9 billion rescission package Wednesday aimed at clawing back federal funding approved by Congress.<\/p>\n<p>The effort could require Vice President J.D. Vance to cast a tie-breaking vote, depending on final support.<\/p>\n<p>Late Tuesday, three Republicans &mdash; Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jd-vance-skewers-mitch-mcconnell-one-great-acts-political-pettiness-ever-seen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mitch McConnell<\/a> of Kentucky &mdash; voted with Democrats against the package.<\/p>\n<p>Murkowski, responding to pressure from President Donald Trump to support the bill, defended her decision.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The president can say what he&rsquo;s going to say, but that&rsquo;s fine.
