Let that sink in.<\/p>\n<p>Fed Chair <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-considering-unusual-move-undercut-terrible-federal-reserve-chair-jerome-powell-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jerome Powell<\/a> and his allies have tried to soothe public concern by insisting the project is &ldquo;not taxpayer-funded.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>They argue that the Fed finances such projects through revenue from its own balance sheet, not from congressional appropriations.<\/p>\n<p>But that&rsquo;s a half-truth at best.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/white-house-slams-powell-over-fed-finances-project-cost-overruns-2025-07-10\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barrons.com\/articles\/federal-reserve-jerome-powell-renovation-f1e3bfb1?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Barron&rsquo;s<\/a> each reported, the Fed has not been turning over profits to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/treasury-makes-final-copper-order-pennies-end-date-01-piece-released\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Treasury<\/a> since 2022.<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s because the Fed is running operating deficits.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to its own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-fed-nominee-has-history-of-black-lives-matter-bullying-support-for-reparations\/\" title=\"Biden Fed Nominee Has History of Black Lives Matter Bullying, Support for Reparations\">interest rate policy<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fed-destroyed-us-economy-now-bidens-pick-head-bank-regulator-wants-fed-controlling-even\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the central bank<\/a> now pays more in interest to banks than it earns from its assets.<\/p>\n<p>Which means every dollar it spends &mdash; including on a gold-plated headquarters remodel &mdash; directly reduces the revenue that would otherwise go to the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s money that must now be replaced through borrowing or higher taxes.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, the American people foot the bill, just not through the front door.<\/p>\n<p>This is not fiscal stewardship. The Fed&rsquo;s job is to stabilize prices and protect the economy, not play palace decorator while Americans struggle to afford groceries. This kind of spending, at this moment, is a slap in the face.<\/p>\n<p>Powell&rsquo;s smug dismissal of accountability and ballooning costs shows just how far removed the Fed is from the people it affects.
