The holdouts seek to add explicit language banning CBDCs-digital currencies issued by central banks like the Federal Reserve-due to concerns over increased federal power and privacy issues. Despite President Trump&#8217;s intervention, the vote has been delayed, with nine &#8220;no&#8221; votes sufficient to stop the legislation. But as the afternoon turned to evening, there were still nine &ldquo;no&rdquo; votes on the board, enough to tank the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and members of his conference have been meeting throughout the day to discuss their concerns, chiefly a provision holdouts want added that contains language explicitly prohibiting CBDCs.<\/p>\n<p>A CBDC is a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joel-valenzuela-central-bank-digital-currencies-are-coming-a-u-s-social-credit-system-could-soon-follow\/\" title=\"Jo\u00ebl Valenzuela: ... If there were a domestic CBDC, consumers could use <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >digital money issued directly<\/a> by the central bank and physical money like cash.<\/p>\n<p>Proponents of a CBDC argue that a centralized dollar would help prevent bank bailouts and increase efficiency.
