That includes Tirrell approving Smith&rsquo;s receipt of $140,000 in pro bono legal fees from Covington &amp; Burling that he disclosed upon concluding his investigation,&rdquo; the outlet added.<\/p>\n<p>Conservative commentator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/scotus-appears-put-hundreds-biden-doj-jan-6-charges-doubt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Julie Kelly<\/a> provided further context, posting on social media, &ldquo;Tirrell, among other things, reviewed disclosure reports by Special Counsel Jack Smith. He also served in the FBI for more than a decade before coming to the Ethics Office in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Bondi&rsquo;s decision comes as she faces scrutiny for her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, including the fallout of the administration announcing in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/republican-congressman-epstein-files-existed-destroyed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">memo<\/a> last week that there exists no &ldquo;client list.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/report-dan-bongino-doesnt-show-work-epstein-files-dust-pam-bondi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">took Friday off<\/a> after clashing with Bondi at the White House over the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Some conservatives are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/karoline-leavitts-response-peter-doocys-epstein-client-list-question-doesnt-go\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">calling for Bondi to resign<\/a> after she indicated earlier this year that she had the &ldquo;Epstein list&rdquo; on her desk.<\/p>\n<p>In February, shortly after being confirmed as attorney general, Fox News host John Roberts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/report-dan-bongino-doesnt-show-work-epstein-files-dust-pam-bondi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asked<\/a> Bondi, &ldquo;The DOJ may be releasing the list of Jeffrey Epstein&rsquo;s clients. Will that really happen?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It&rsquo;s sitting right now on my desk to review,&rdquo; she responded.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;That&rsquo;s been a directive by President [Donald] Trump,&rdquo; Bondi continued. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m reviewing that. I&rsquo;m reviewing JFK files, MLK files.
