Scalise appeared to support President Donald Trump&#8217;s approach of acting unilaterally on sanctions rather than waiting for congressional approval.He expressed confidence that Trump could persuade Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/poll-one-in-six-biden-voters-would-have-changed-their-vote-if-they-had-known-about-scandals-suppressed-by-media\/\" title=\"Poll: One In Six Biden Voters Would Have Changed Their Vote If They Had Known About Scandals Suppressed By Media\">peace deal<\/a>. Meanwhile, Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) had proposed a bill imposing steep tariffs on countries importing Russian energy, but this effort lost momentum after Trump proposed a 50-day deadline for a Russia-Ukraine peace deal, wiht escalating tariffs to follow if no agreement is reached.
