Cruz Presses Judge Jackson On Whether He Can Identify As A \u2018Woman\u2019 Or \u2018Asian Man\u2019\">gender-based policies<\/a> that endanger children, infringe on parental rights, and violate federal law. In a letter to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, chair of the House Subcommittee on Delivering Government Efficiency, APC requests an inquiry into whether the YMCA is misusing public funds by implementing policies that bypass parental consent and violate Title IX protections. The YMCA, wich serves 4 million children annually and receives $600 million in government grants, has faced criticism for allowing biological males in girls&#8217; locker rooms, bathrooms, and overnight cabins, with some incidents reportedly involving lack of parental notification. The YMCA has removed web content related to gender ideology following the backlash. APC emphasizes the need to hold YMCA accountable to prevent harm to girls and ensure appropriate use of taxpayer funds, citing a 2025 executive order that prohibits federal funding for promoting gender ideology. The YMCA has stated it advocates for safety and privacy of all members amid evolving state laws on transgender inclusion.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A conservative parents&rsquo; rights group is urging Congress to investigate the YMCA over concerns it is using federal funds to promote radical&nbsp;gender-based policies that &ldquo;endanger children, disregard parental rights, and violate federal law,&rdquo; according to a Monday&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/americanparentscoalition.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/DOGE-Committee-Letter.pdf\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">letter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The letter, sent by Executive Director of the American Parents Coalition Alleigh Marr&eacute; to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, asks the House Subcommittee on Delivering Government Efficiency (which is chaired by Greene) &ldquo;to investigate whether the YMCA is misusing public funds to implement policies that violate statutory protections and bypass parental consent.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The APC previously <a href=\"https:\/\/americanparentscoalition.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/YMCA-Letter.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filed<\/a> a Title IX complaint on June 10 with the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, saying that the YMCA is nationally promoting &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dem-senate-candidates-support-lgbt-radicalism-in-the-military\/\" title=\"Dem Senate Candidates Support LGBT Radicalism In The Military\">radical gender ideology&#038;rdquo<\/a>; by &ldquo;allowing biological males in girls&rsquo; locker rooms, bathrooms, and overnight cabins,&rdquo; according to the July 14 letter.<\/p>\n<p>The nonprofit Young Men&rsquo;s Christian Association (YMCA), which purportedly promotes &ldquo;Christian principles,&rdquo; according to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ymca.org\/who-we-are\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mission<\/a> statement, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ymca.org\/who-we-are\/our-reach\/key-facts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">serves<\/a> 4 million children yearly and receives $600 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ymca.org\/who-we-are\/our-impact\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">from<\/a> government grants each year, obligating the organization under Title IX to not promote &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/01\/defending-women-from-gender-ideology-extremism-and-restoring-biological-truth-to-the-federal-government\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gender ideology.<\/a>&ldquo;<\/p>\n<p>Trump signed an executive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/01\/defending-women-from-gender-ideology-extremism-and-restoring-biological-truth-to-the-federal-government\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">order<\/a> in January stating that &ldquo;federal funds shall not be used to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/is-the-smithsonian-violating-trumps-gender-ideology-eo\/\" title=\"Is The Smithsonian Violating Trump&#039;s &#039;...&#039; EO?\">promote gender ideology&#038;rdquo<\/a>; and that Title IX should be applied based on biological sex rather than &ldquo;gender identity.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Y does provide really great services and is a pillar in a lot of communities,&rdquo; Marr&eacute; told The Federalist. &ldquo;All of that stands to change if they lose funding.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>A YMCA camp in Colorado sorted campers based on &ldquo;gender identity,&rdquo; allowing biological boys to sleep in girls&rsquo; cabins and ensuring their &ldquo;chosen pronouns [were] respected and honored,&rdquo; while withholding the information from parents, The Gazette <a href=\"https:\/\/gazette.com\/news\/ymca-camps-policy-to-sort-campers-by-gender-identity-stirs-controversy\/article_b0d5032a-1893-11ef-90d0-131e93001fad.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Parents will not be informed ahead of time if a boy is staying in a girls&rsquo; cabin,&rdquo; Marr&eacute; told The Federalist.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Kansas City Police investigated an incident where a man claiming to be a woman allegedly exposed himself to a mother and her 7-year-old in the YMCA&rsquo;s women&rsquo;s locker room, National Review <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/male-claiming-to-be-female-under-investigation-for-indecent-exposure-in-ymca-womens-locker-room-honey-im-a-woman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>. In 2022, a mother and her daughter in Ohio also allegedly encountered a naked man in the YMCA women&rsquo;s locker facility, Independent Women <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iwf.org\/2023\/08\/30\/the-ymcas-liberal-gender-policies-once-again-threaten-the-safety-of-women-and-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The YMCA removed the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >web pages showing gender ideology policies<\/a> after the APC pushed back against the ideology, the Daily Caller <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/05\/30\/ymca-scrubs-trans-guidance-after-parent-group-uproar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The nonprofit also took down or restricted access to pages like &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250218130705\/https:\/\/www.ymca.org\/ystories\/y-community\/affirming-lgbtq-communities-with-pride\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Affirming LGBTQ+ Communities with Pride<\/a>,&rdquo; posted in 2022, that shared the importance of &ldquo;pride&rdquo; and &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20240414230154\/https:\/\/www.ymca.org\/ystories\/youth-teen-development\/create-safe-spaces-for-lgbtq-campers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How to Create a Safe Space for LGBTQ+ Campers<\/a>,&rdquo; posted in 2017, that says the YMCA &ldquo;believe[s] that in a diverse world, we are strnger [sic] when we are inclusive and our doors are open to all &mdash; this includes LGBTQ+-identified individuals and communities.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/news\/264725\/parents-group-urges-federal-investigation-of-ymca-over-men-in-girls-locker-rooms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement <\/a>to Catholic News Agency (CNA), a spokesman for the YMCA said the 2017 post was a &ldquo;blog&rdquo; that &ldquo;had a number of ideas for camps that were interested in being more inclusive.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;State laws about transgender inclusion in gendered spaces remain an ever-evolving topic,&rdquo; the spokesman told CNA. &ldquo;Considering this, Y-USA advocates for the personal safety and privacy of all members and participants.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our letter highlights the urgent need for an investigation into the YMCA&rsquo;s federal funding since the organization continues to allow for radical gender policies that violate Title IX,&rdquo; Marr&eacute; said in a statement. &ldquo;The YMCA needs to be held accountable for these actions not only to prevent harm to girls, but also to guard against the misuse of taxpayer funds.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The YMCA did not respond to The Federalist&rsquo;s request to comment.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Abigail Nichols is a correspondent for The Federalist.
