Federal prosecutors stated that Cooper and Oxendine provided conflicting accounts about how Routh obtained the weapon, a Chinese-made SKS rifle, which he bought about a month before his arrest. Both have admitted guilt, with Cooper pleading guilty to firearm trafficking and Oxendine to possessing an unregistered firearm. \t\t\t\t}); \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>He was also found in possession of ammunition and a pair of gloves, the U.S. Department of Justice said at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said he was not allowed to own a firearm because he had been convicted of felony charges in 2002 and 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Cooper told federal authorities she and Oxendine helped him procure a gun after he claimed it was &ldquo;for his son to use as protection,&rdquo; CBS News reported.<\/p>\n<p>The two individuals, who have both admitted guilt, helped him, but told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fbi-supervisor-hired-prostitutes-us-abroad-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">federal agents<\/a> they did not know how he allegedly intended to use the firearm.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said the duo sold Routh a Chinese-made SKS rifle a month before he was arrested.<\/p>\n<p>Cooper worked for Oxendine&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fortune-500-company-hosts-trans-activist-for-international-womens-day-talk\/\" title=\"Fortune 500 Company Hosts Trans Activist for \u2018International Women\u2019s Day\u2019 Talk\">roofing company<\/a> in Greensboro, North Carolina, and she had asked Oxendine to make the sale to Routh, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/nation\/crime\/doj-claims-two-people-sold-rifle-alleged-would-be-trump-assassin-ryan-routh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Just the News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cooper had previously worked for Routh at his roofing company.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Cooper, Routh, and Oxendine allegedly met at Oxendine&rsquo;s roofing company&rsquo;s headquarters, where Routh paid Oxendine $350 cash for the rifle and $100 to Cooper for helping to arrange the sale,&rdquo; according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Cooper pleaded guilty to firearm trafficking and &ldquo;admitted she was &lsquo;guilty&rsquo; of assisting Routh,&rdquo; according to a court filing cited by CBS.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Oxendine pleaded guilty to possessing an unregistered firearm after <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" ><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-red-wave-of-conservative-women-elected-to-congress\/\" title=\"The Red Wave of Conservative Women Elected to Congress\">law enforcement<\/a> officers searched<\/a> a storage building belonging to him and found a short-barreled shotgun.<\/p>\n<p>According to news reports, Cooper and Oxendine both knew Routh was not legally allowed to own a gun.<\/p>\n<p>Both suspects initially gave conflicting accounts to law enforcement about when and how Routh came into possession of the weapon he allegedly intended to use on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alleged-trump-assassin-ryan-routh-touts-direct-connection-thomas-matthew-crooks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Routh is currently being held without bond.<\/p>\n<p>He has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.<\/p>\n<p>According to the DOJ, Routh was close to Trump as he golfed just weeks before the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>Routh had an SKS rifle with a scope and an extended magazine.
