Gill asked Harper whether peopel should be treated differently based on race, seeking a clear yes-or-no answer. Harper initially avoided direct answers and emphasized the existence of systemic racism and the need to provide support and remedies to affected groups. When questioned about the role of race in hiring practices, Harper affirmed that diversity should be considered but denied favoring any particular race, despite earlier conflicting statements. The exchange grew tense as Harper defended holistic admissions and DEI policies, while Gill criticized them as a form of reverse racism that can undermine merit-based systems. the discussion highlighted ongoing debates about race-conscious policies in education, employment, and society, with critics arguing that DEI initiatives risk promoting individuals based on identity rather than qualifications.

Rep.
