Despite this rise, the 2024 number remains lower than the ten-year high of 400 victims recorded in 2018. The majority of the victims-261 individuals-were aged 15 to 17, and approximately 91% of them were female. Broward County reported the highest number of victims at 47, followed by Miami-dade and other counties.<\/p>\n<p>While the number of verified victims increased,the overall reports and investigations declined,with 2,797 reports and 1,340 investigations in 2024,compared to 3,358 reports and 1,448 investigations in 2023. The report points to increased public awareness due to recent legislation designed to help identify and assist victims as a factor in these trends.Florida has allocated over $15 million in funding for services to support human trafficking victims in fiscal 2025. In 2023, there were 3,358 reports of children victimized by commercial sexual exploitation, with 1,448 investigations and 339 verified victims. In 2024, the number of victims reached a four-year high, but reports declined to 2,797 and investigations dropped to 1,340.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Child and Family Services also said reports increased between 2015 and 2022 because of legislation that requires prospective foster parents be trained to identify commercial sexual exploitation and another law that requires residential treatment centers to post human trafficking signage, potentially increasing public awareness.<\/p>\n<p>In fiscal 2025, Florida service providers received more than $15 million from state appropriations and federal victim compensation funds to serve human trafficking victims.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/education\/3464556\/ron-desantis-notes-education-improvements-in-move-away-from-high-stakes-testing\/\" title=\"\">RON DESANTIS NOTES EDUCATION IMPROVEMENTS IN MOVE AWAY FROM &lsquo;HIGH-STAKES&rsquo; TESTING<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the last 10 years, the Legislature passed several measures related to human trafficking. In 2012, lawmakers passed the Florida Safe Harbor Act, which created safe houses for victims of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-administration-anti-trafficking-office-had-incredible-impact\/\" title=\"Trump administration anti-trafficking office had \u2018incredible impact\u2019\">child sexual exploitation<\/a>.
