Those rates include 25% import duties on Japan and South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We have had years to discuss our Trading Relationship with Japan and have concluded that we must move away from these longterm, and very persistent, Trade Deficits engendered by Japan&rsquo;s Tariff, and Non Tariff, Policies, and Trade Barriers,&rdquo; the president wrote in his letter to Japan, sending a nearly identical letter to South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>Myanmar and Laos were sent letters later on Monday advising them that they face a 40% tariff. Similarly, South Africa faces a 30% duty, and Kazakhstan and Malaysia a 25% levy. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/white-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"White House \">White House <\/a>press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the tariffs may not go into effect if trade deals are signed before the deadline.<\/p>\n<p>A second order extends a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3384385\/trump-extends-hiring-freeze-july\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"previously announced\">previously announced<\/a> hiring freeze which was announced on inauguration day and later extended to July 15. The new deadline will be Oct. 15. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;No federal civilian position that is presently vacant may be filled, and no new position may be created, except as otherwise provided for in this memorandum or required by applicable law,&rdquo; it reads. <\/p>\n<p>Military personnel and positions related to immigration enforcement, national security, and public safety are exempt from the hiring freeze.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-transform:uppercase\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3458495\/white-house-trump-every-nationwide-injunction-revisited-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"White House says &lsquo;every&rsquo; for green energy sources, implementing provisions of the legislation that <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >end clean energy tax credits expanded<\/a> by the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act signed by President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Joe Biden\">Joe Biden<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;For too long, the federal government has forced American taxpayers to subsidize expensive and unreliable energy sources like wind and solar,&rdquo;
