A video shared by local <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >anti-crime activist<\/a> Elissa DeSouza captured the chaotic scenes of people firing explosives, prompting concern for public safety. Despite police awareness of the situation, no arrests were made, and many criticized the lack of enforcement regarding fireworks laws in the district. witnesses described the atmosphere as alarming, expressing worry about the behavior of the youth involved. Most fireworks, including the ones seen in Navy Yard, are illegal in the district.<\/p>\n<p>A video posted by anti-crime activist and Navy Yard resident Elissa DeSouza shows people firing off what appear to be roman candle-style and other exploding fireworks. Metropolitan Police told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that police were aware of the illegal fireworks usage and were called to the area. No arrests were made, and no other information was given regarding discipline for the hazardous behavior.<\/p>\n<p>DeSouza says the perpetrators were &ldquo;kids,&rdquo; and said she left the area.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It&rsquo;s a shame those kids can&rsquo;t see how they ruin things for other people. They need a better influences in their life. I am sure their parents contribute to their behavior. The shooting was scary too but not surprising. I packed up and left.
