Despite a focus on the state’s budget, lawmakers are attempting to alter rules related to marijuana use, which were initially sanctioned by voters. Proposed modifications include reducing the allowance for home-grown marijuana, granting local governments more authority to regulate or ban recreational use,and imposing restrictions on transport and sharing of marijuana. The House Judiciary Committee has delayed voting on the proposed changes, following pushback from cannabis advocacy groups and the American Civil Liberties Union, which argue that the changes contradict voters’ original intent. In contrast, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce supports the amendments, citing the need for workplace protections. The new regulations aim to limit various aspects of marijuana usage, including plant cultivation, THC content in extracts, and the distribution of certain tax revenues meant for social equity initiatives.

Changes to voter-approved recreational marijuana still debated

(The Center Square) – While Ohio’s new budget has been the legislative focus in the last two weeks, lawmakers continue to push to change the rules voters approved for recreational marijuana use.

Many expected the House to pass changes earlier this month that would have cut in half the amount of home-grown marijuana allowed and given cities more power to regulate or ban recreational use.

Recommended Stories

Trump on a roll, back-to<a href="https://www.conservativenewsdaily.net/breaking-news/trump-on-a-roll-back-to-back-victory-weeks-white-house-report-card-washington-examiner/" title="Trump on a roll, back-to-back victory weeks: White ...
