The incident in question occurred during a staff retreat on June 16, where Small allegedly inappropriately touched a male staffer. After being placed on administrative leave, he submitted his resignation. This incident marks the latest in a series of concerns regarding workplace conduct, as Small was also previously the subject of a complaint for behaving inappropriately with colleagues. Small was accused of inappropriately touching a male staffer at a bar in a complaint filed with the executive chamber.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly afterward, Small was placed on administrative leave last week. He was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/07\/04\/nyregion\/hochul-press-secretary-small-resigns-sexual-harassment.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">not informed of the nature of the complaint<\/a>, the <em>New York Times<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Small was also the subject of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/07\/03\/hochul-aide-placed-on-leave-had-prior-complaint-filed-against-him-00439996\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">prior complaint<\/a> in early 2024 for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sheila-jackson-lees-daughter-will-run-in-special-election-for-late-mothers-seat-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Sheila Jackson Lee\u2019s daughter will run in special election for late mother\u2019s seat - Washington Examiner\">allegedly berating staffers<\/a>, <em>Politico<\/em> reported. He reportedly yelled at and reprimanded younger employees on the governor&rsquo;s communications team for making mistakes in press releases, creating a hostile work environment.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, he reportedly discussed his sex life with certain staffers at work.<\/p>\n<p>Hochul assumed office in August 2021 after former Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/andrew-cuomo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Andrew Cuomo\">Andrew Cuomo<\/a> resigned due to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fing-change-your-model-joe-rogan-calls-on-cnn-to-report-objective-news\/\" title=\"\u2018F***ing Change Your Model\u2019: Joe Rogan Calls On CNN To ... \u2018Objective News\u2019\">sexual harassment scandal involving multiple women<\/a> who worked for New York State.<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo harassed at least 11 women, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/gothamist.com\/news\/investigation-finds-gov-andrew-cuomo-sexually-harassed-multiple-women\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"report\">report<\/a> from New York Attorney General Letitia James. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/01\/26\/cuomo-sexual-harassment-doj-00138140\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"subsequent report\">subsequent report<\/a> from the Department of Justice found he harassed at least 13 women over eight years. Cuomo has denied the accusations.<\/p>\n<p>After taking office nearly four years ago, Hochul said she wouldn&rsquo;t tolerate any sexual harassment or other misconduct.
