Nationwide, the average cost of a gallon of gas is $3.14,&nbsp;roughly 32 cents cheaper than this time last year.<\/p>\n<p>Some 1.7 million more people are planning on traveling within the U.S. between June 28 and July 6 than during the same period last year,&nbsp;and about 61.6 million people will travel by car, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.aaa.com\/2025\/06\/july4forecast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"press release \">AAA.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>States like California, Washington, and Hawaii are seeing the <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/july-4-gas-prices-hit-lowest-level-since-2021-132819457.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"highest gas prices\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kevin-mccarthy-sends-letter-to-members-outlining-americas-declining-condition-under-biden-democrats\/\" title=\"Kevin McCarthy Sends Letter To Members Outlining America\u2019s Declining Condition Under Biden, Democrats\">highest gas prices<\/a><\/a> in the country,&nbsp;a staggering $4.30 per gallon,&nbsp;while states like Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Texas are seeing $2.67 per gallon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/daily-on-energy\/3458614\/daily-on-energy-vote-a-rama-epa-breaks-trump-gas-prices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Lowered gas prices\">Lower gas prices<\/a> are due to the increasing stabilization in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/economy\/3461130\/july-4th-gas-prices-hit-lowest-level-four-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Middle East,\">Middle East<\/a> as tensions between Iran and Israel de-escalate. While many hope gas prices decrease, the next few months,&nbsp;peak hurricane season,&nbsp;may cause gas prices to soar. The U.S. is expected to have a 60% of an &ldquo;above-normal season&rdquo; and see three to five major hurricanes, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.noaa.gov\/news-release\/noaa-predicts-above-normal-2025-atlantic-hurricane-season\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Lowered gas prices\">National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/07\/03\/business\/what-costs-more-or-less-fourth-of-july\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"CNN\">CNN<\/a> that if Middle East conflicts simmer, and no major storms hit the U.S., gas prices could drop below $3 a gallon by the end of the summer.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Food costs: Staying relatively steady<\/h2>\n<p>As gas prices decrease, food costs are staying relatively stable. A Fourth of July cookout will cost roughly $70.92 for 10 guests this year &mdash;&nbsp;a 30-cent decrease from last year&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/psaki-white-house-expects-gas-prices-will-continue-to-rise\/\" title=\"Psaki: White House Expects ... Will Continue to Rise\">record-high costs<\/a> since the group began the survey in 2013, according to a 2025 survey from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fb.org\/news-release\/cost-of-summer-cookout-nearly-unchanged-from-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"American Farm Bureau Federation\">American Farm Bureau Federation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The $70.92 total includes cheeseburgers, chicken breasts, pork chops, homemade potato salad, strawberries, and ice cream, among other foods. The survey doesn&rsquo;t represent all Fourth of July food preferences, but it does give a general idea of the costs families are expected to see in the summertime.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Inflation and lower availability of some food items continue to keep <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-housing-market-proving-resilient\/\" title=\"U.S. Housing Market Proving Resilient\">prices stubbornly high<\/a> for America&rsquo;s families,&rdquo; Samantha Ayoub, an AFBF associate economist, said in a press release. &ldquo;High prices don&rsquo;t mean more money for farmers, however. Farmers are price takers, not price makers. Their share of the food retail dollar is just 15%. Western states saw a $6 decrease, and the Northeast has the lowest average at $63.79.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fireworks: Expected to skyrocket<\/h2>\n<p>While inflation is at its lowest since 2020,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/economy\/3462041\/fireworks-advocacy-group-warns-shortage-fourth-of-july-next-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"tariff\"> firework displays <\/a>have gotten more expensive. In 2024, the U.S. imported $489 million worth of fireworks &mdash;&nbsp;$485 million of those coming from China. As a result, many importers have held their fireworks in China to wait out the tariffs, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/07\/03\/business\/what-costs-more-or-less-fourth-of-july\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"CNN\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3458317\/trump-iowa-visit-us-250-birthday-celebrations-july-4-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"America's 250th birthday\">America&rsquo;s 250th birthday<\/a> approaching in 2026, businesses are expecting to see the largest celebrations ever.
