And things could get a lot worse.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>State Appeals Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wicourts.gov\/courts\/appeals\/judges\/taylor.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Judge Chris Taylor<\/a>, one of Wisconsin&rsquo;s most extreme liberals, has announced a run for conservative <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wicourts.gov\/courts\/supreme\/justices\/rbradley.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Justice Rebecca Grassl Bradley&rsquo;s<\/a> seat in the April 2026 election. Bradley, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjiinc.org\/blog\/walkers-judges-rebecca-g-bradley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">textualist<\/a> conservative soul of the Badger State&rsquo;s court of last resort, has <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DanRShafer\/status\/1908262773609353576\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> that she will seek another 10-year term &ldquo;to ensure that there is a voice for the constitution and for the rule of law.&rdquo; But a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.belling.com\/exclusive-rebecca-bradley-unlikely-to-run-for-reelection-to-wisconsin-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a> from Milwaukee conservative talk show host Mark Belling cast some doubt on Bradley&rsquo;s future with the court.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Taylor launched her campaign in May with an audacious attack on Bradley, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/chrisforjustice\/posts\/extremism-and-partisanship-have-no-place-on-our-states-highest-court-thats-why-j\/1010086611314036\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">proclaiming<\/a>, &ldquo;Extremism and partisanship have no place on our state&rsquo;s highest court.&rdquo; The Madison leftist immediately disqualified herself with that statement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The former public policy director for <a href=\"https:\/\/rewirenewsgroup.com\/authors\/chris-taylor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin<\/a> and Democrat lawmaker set a new bar on the word &ldquo;extreme.&rdquo; Taylor is fond of using words like &ldquo;liberty&rdquo; and &ldquo;freedom,&rdquo; but has no patience for such principles when it comes to conservative policy and especially those opposed to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/----788899b9cf224c2492d55a8bc2922b17\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">indiscriminate murder<\/a> of the unborn.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Taylor spent her formative years in southern California but has long existed in the Madison bubble &mdash; and has been rewarded by the socialists who occupy it. Her long record of far-out policies will have to stand trial statewide in the campaign season ahead. That&rsquo;s a big problem, despite the fact that conservatives have failed to pick a candidate who could compete in a Supreme Court race since 2019. Even then, the nominal conservative, Justice Brian &ldquo;swing vote&rdquo; Hagedorn, <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Wisconsin_Supreme_Court_elections,_2019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">squeaked out a win <\/a>against another in a long line of radical candidates.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Taylor&rsquo;s full-throated assault on the rule of immigration law may prove to be her most striking political liability.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>The Sanctuary Candidate<\/h2>\n<p>As a Madison state senator, Taylor joined a cadre of radical lawmakers in 2019 pushing bills banning Immigration &amp; Customs Enforcement facilities in Wisconsin. The bills &ldquo;would effectively make Wisconsin a &lsquo;sanctuary state&rsquo; for those who are undocumented,&rdquo; Urban Milwaukee <a href=\"https:\/\/urbanmilwaukee.com\/2019\/08\/07\/will-wisconsin-become-a-sanctuary-state\/#google_vignette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported <\/a>at the time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Taylor sought to include &ldquo;immigration as a protected status&rdquo; in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-claims-of-gentrification-cannot-stop-new-development-in-south-los-angeles\/\" title=\"...: Claims of \u2018Gentrification\u2019 Cannot Stop New Development in South Los Angeles\u00a0\">fair housing laws<\/a> and to make illegal aliens eligible for in-state tuition at Wisconsin taxpayer-funded universities, the liberal Wisconsin Examiner <a href=\"https:\/\/wisconsinexaminer.com\/2019\/08\/09\/we-will-not-allow-ice-to-take-our-friends-and-neighbors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported.<\/a> And she wanted to &ldquo;restore driver&rsquo;s licenses to non-citizens.&rdquo; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Taylor <a href=\"https:\/\/wisconsinexaminer.com\/2019\/08\/09\/we-will-not-allow-ice-to-take-our-friends-and-neighbors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called<\/a> the proposed taxpayer giveaways and the resistance movement against federal immigration law a <a href=\"https:\/\/wisconsinexaminer.com\/2019\/08\/09\/we-will-not-allow-ice-to-take-our-friends-and-neighbors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">moral, ethical and economic issue.<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I expect every single one of you to be ready, and not to allow ICE to come into our community and take our friends and neighbors,&rdquo; then-Madison Ald. Shiva Bidar, standing with Taylor, <a href=\"https:\/\/wisconsinexaminer.com\/2019\/08\/09\/we-will-not-allow-ice-to-take-our-friends-and-neighbors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prodded<\/a> a crowd of about 200 gathered on the Capitol steps at the press conference announcing the far-left bills (The proposals failed to move in the Republican-controlled legislature). In other words, break the law to normalize law-breaking.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The year before, Taylor <a href=\"https:\/\/isthmus.com\/events\/celebrate-madisons-sister-cities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">traveled to El Salvador<\/a> with Fabiola Hamdan, a Dane County immigration specialist, as part of leftist delegation to &ldquo;study human rights and immigration issues.&rdquo; Yes, it does sound a lot like former border czar Vice President Kamala Harris&rsquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/investigations\/kamala-harris-border-policy-rcna163317\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mission<\/a> to address &ldquo;the root causes that drive migration from Central America to the U.S.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One of the members of the delegation suggested on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wortfm.org\/lessons-from-el-salvador-with-the-madison-arcatao-sister-city-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leftist Madison radio show<\/a> that the gang violence in El Salvador was the fault of the first Trump administration and that the country could not possibly &ldquo;absorb&rdquo; the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants the Department of Homeland Security planned to return to El Salvador in 2018. Sound familiar?&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>A Leftist&rsquo;s Mentor<\/h2>\n<p>Taylor resigned her legislative post in 2020 after her appointment by Democrat Gov. Tony Evers to fill a seat on the Dane County Circuit Court. She replaced Judge Jill Karofsky, now one of four activist liberals controlling the seven-member state Supreme Court. Arguably one of the more divisive lawmakers in Wisconsin state history, Taylor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wmtv15news.com\/content\/news\/State-Rep-Chris-Taylor-formally-resigns-before-heading-to--571373861.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">thanked <\/a>her far-left Madison constituents for inspiring her to &ldquo;champion more equitable, just policies.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Taylor <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Chris_Taylor_(Wisconsin)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ran unopposed<\/a> to replace retiring Judge Michael Fitzpatrick on the Madison-based District IV of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I have exciting news! I&rsquo;m running for WI&#8217;s Court of Appeals, the intermediate state appellate court, covering 24 counties and based here in Madison. I&rsquo;ve included the press release I issued today. I thank retiring judge Michael Fitzpatrick for his many years of judicial service. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NpEqMcn1tp\">pic.twitter.com\/NpEqMcn1tp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Chris Taylor (@ChrisTaylorWI) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChrisTaylorWI\/status\/1593317018194874369?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 17, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In her application for consideration for the circuit court bench, Taylor cited as a mentor U.S. District Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wied.uscourts.gov\/judges\/lynn-adelman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Judge Lynn Adelman<\/a>, a leading contender for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/bench-memos\/this-day-in-liberal-judicial-activism-march-11-4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">farthest-left jurist<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dems-turn-to-activist-judges-to-defy-trump\/\" title=\"Dems Turn To ...s To Defy Trump\">federal court system &#038;mdash<\/a>; or any court system for that matter. In 2020, the Judicial Council of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals publicly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wied.uscourts.gov\/sites\/wied\/files\/documents\/judicial-conduct_2020%3A07-20-90046_90044.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rebuked<\/a> Adelman for his 35-page <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.law.harvard.edu\/lpr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/89\/2020\/03\/Adelman.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">screed,<\/a> &ldquo;The Roberts Court&rsquo;s Assault on Democracy,&rdquo; in which he verbally abused U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, President Donald Trump, and the Republican Party.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As the Heritage Foundation&rsquo;s Zack Smith and GianCarlo Canaparo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/crime-and-justice\/commentary\/judicial-council-rightly-rebukes-judge-lynn-adelman-law-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted<\/a> at the time, Adelman accused the president of failing to enact policies &ldquo;beneficial to the general public,&rdquo; of behaving like an &ldquo;autocrat,&rdquo; and of failing &ldquo;to buck the wealthy individuals and corporations who control his party.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Adelman, a judge for the Eastern District of Wisconsin since 1997, targeted Republicans for special criticism and went so far as to liken them to pro-slavery &lsquo;fire-eaters&rsquo; of the pre-Civil War South,&rdquo; the authors wrote.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s Taylor&rsquo;s mentor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I learned from some of the most skilled attorneys in the field. The Honorable Lynn Adelman, an attorney and state senator at the time and one of the most distinguished legal visionaries and constitutionalists in the state, demonstrated to me the power of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >advancing social justice issues<\/a> through litigation,&rdquo; the Supreme Court candidate wrote.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s probably the biggest of myriad problems with Taylor and the four liberal justices occupying Wisconsin&rsquo;s high court; they mistake <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoover.org\/research\/social-justice-fallacies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;social justice&rdquo; for justice<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americafirstpolicy.com\/issues\/the-inequality-of-equity-both-past-and-present\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;equity&rdquo; with equality.<\/a> In so doing they trample all over the constitution and the rule of law.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>&lsquo;Honored to Have Earned&rsquo;<\/h2>\n<p>Interestingly, Adelman is the judge presiding over the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-judge-grants-gop-lawmaker-standing-to-sue-biden-administration-over-unrwa-funding-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Texas ... grants GOP ......r standing to sue Biden administration over UNRWA funding ... Washington Examiner\">federal government&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s criminal case against Milwaukee County <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/06\/04\/wi-judge-charged-with-helping-illegal-alien-evade-ice-has-a-case-of-judicial-privilege\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Judge Hannah Dugan<\/a>. The activist judge has been <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/05\/01\/wisconsin-supreme-court-removes-federally-charged-judge-from-the-bench\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">charged<\/a> with felony obstruction and misdemeanor concealing an individual to prevent arrest. She is accused of aiding previously deported illegal immigrant Eduardo Flores-Ruiz&rsquo;s brief escape from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bank-of-america-is-without-the-knowledge-or-the-consent-of-customers-sharing-private-info-with-feds-tucker-carlson-reports\/\" title=\"Bank Of America \u2018Is Without The Knowledge Or The Consent\u2019 Of Customers \u2018Sharing Private\u2019 Info With Feds, Tucker Carlson Reports\">federal law enforcement officials<\/a> while he was appearing in front of Dugan on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/news\/2025\/04\/25\/milwaukee-judge-obstructed-arrest-illegal-alien-accused-strangulation-battery-and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">battery charges<\/a>. Dugan faces up to six years in prison and a $350,000 fine if found guilty.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>Weird how these cases always seem to end up in Lynn Adelman&rsquo;s court room. <\/p>\n<p>Don&rsquo;t worry, though. Her attorneys argue that she has absolute immunity from prosecution for her actions in the courtroom.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Legal experts say the immunity defense is a tough argument to make.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Judicial immunity only applies to civil lawsuits,&rdquo; Howard Schweber, University of Wisconsin political science professor emeritus, recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox6now.com\/news\/milwaukee-county-judge-dugan-case-trial-delayed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> Fox6 in Milwaukee. &ldquo;What is very strange about Judge Dugan&rsquo;s motion to dismiss is she asserts an absolute immunity from criminal prosecution, even though all of the cases that she cites are about civil lawsuits.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>How does Taylor feel about the charges against her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/hannahdugan31\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">friend<\/a>? How does she feel about such immunity claims? Her campaign did not respond to The Federalist&rsquo;s requests for comment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Taylor may not be the only liberal candidate in the state Supreme Court race, but she is the darling of the far-left establishment. She&rsquo;s received the endorsements of all four liberals who will lead the court&rsquo;s next term, three of whom have delivered Democrats some of the more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/news\/wisconsin-supreme-court-upholds-evers-400-year-veto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">constitution-defying wins<\/a> on record. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;m honored to have earned their endorsements and look forward to the opportunity to speak with people across Wisconsin about why we need to reinforce this pro-democracy, pro-freedom majority on the Court,&rdquo; Taylor said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/civicmedia.us\/news\/2025\/05\/21\/three-justices-one-justice-elect-endorses-chris-taylor-for-2026-state-supreme-court-bid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statemen<\/a>t to Civic Media.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Taylor&rsquo;s idea of &ldquo;pro-democracy&rdquo; and &ldquo;pro-freedom&rdquo; should frighten the hell out of anyone who values the rule of law and the basic tenets of this constitutional republic.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Matt Kittle is a senior elections correspondent for The Federalist.
