Printing and postage&nbsp;reportedly&nbsp;cost $17,000 for the&nbsp;over 62,500 residences expected to receive the postcards.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/story.php?story_fbid=1034430342203045&amp;id=100069082664454&amp;mibextid=wwXIfr&amp;rdid=bDqVgdBVo5O5eF7V#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">6&times;11 cards<\/a> consist of two sections. If you see an officer violating this, REPORT THEIR NAME AND BADGE NUMBER to the city.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.providenceri.gov\/mayor-elorza-signs-providence-community-police-relations-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Signed<\/a> in 2017, the <a href=\"https:\/\/providencecommunitysafetyact.wordpress.com\/full-text-of-the-csa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Community-Police Relations Act<\/a> prohibits Providence police officers from aiding federal agencies in enforcing U.S. Civil Immigration Law. Its team of immigration law attorneys represents<\/span> illegal immigrants facing removal proceedings in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. AMOR receives funding from several Democratic-aligned organizations, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/tides-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Tides Foundation<\/a>, a major grantmaking entity on the activist Left.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/3383345\/left-funds-legal-industry-shielding-migrants-deportation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HOW THE LEFT FUNDS THE LEGAL INDUSTRY SHIELDING MIGRANTS FROM DEPORTATION<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dorcas International and AMOR were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.providenceri.gov\/pvdgi-community-partners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">both part<\/a> of a pilot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.providenceri.gov\/mgi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">equity-based guaranteed income program<\/a> that provided monthly &ldquo;no-strings-attached&rdquo; cash transfers to a targeted portion of Providence&rsquo;s population, regardless of immigration status, with special preference allotted toward &ldquo;people of color.&rdquo; Among other organizations, Dorcas and AMOR <a href=\"https:\/\/www.providenceri.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Community-Outreach-Presentation-English.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">offered application assistance<\/a> for those seeking to receive these recurring payments <a href=\"https:\/\/guaranteedincome.us\/providence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">totaling $990,000<\/a> over a year-and-a-half period.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/council.providenceri.gov\/2025\/06\/25\/council-announces-citywide-immigrant-rights-mailer-to-be-sent-to-every-household\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">a statement<\/a>, City Council President Rachel Miller said they worked collaboratively on the mailers with the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >listed local immigration advocacy organizations &#038;ldquo<\/a>;in the face of&nbsp;fear and uncertainty that pervades our city&rsquo;s immigrant communities due to the reckless cruelty of the Trump administration.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin said such rhetoric vilifying federal immigration officers is inciting violence against ICE agents.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Council President Miller&rsquo;s comments calling immigration enforcement &lsquo;state-sponsored intimidation and terrorization&rsquo; are despicable,&rdquo; McLaughlin told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. &ldquo;This kind of garbage has led to a more than 500% increase in assaults against our ICE law enforcement officers. Providence City Council is putting violent criminal aliens above the safety of their own constituents&mdash;it is shameful and embarrassing. President Trump and Secretary Noem are restoring the rule of law and putting the safety of Americans first.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Republican Party of Rhode Island is accusing the city council of <a href=\"https:\/\/council.providenceri.gov\/2025\/03\/14\/committee-on-finance-approves-levy-cap-resolution-as-amended\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">trying to raise taxes by 8%<\/a> in order to cover the initiative&rsquo;s costs. <a href=\"https:\/\/webserver.rilegislature.gov\/BillText\/BillText25\/SenateText25\/S1041.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">A bill<\/a>, signed into law last week by Democratic Gov. Dan McKee, allows Providence to exceed the 4% tax levy cap for fiscal 2026 by up to double the state-mandated maximum.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The optics are blinding: tax the people more, then use their hard-earned money to hand out lawbreaking instructions,&rdquo; the Rhode Island GOP, which is calling for an investigation into the mass mailing effort, said in <a href=\"https:\/\/ri.gop\/2025\/06\/27\/ri-gop-slams-providence-council-8-tax-hike-so-they-can-mail-out-how-to-evade-the-law-guides\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">a press release<\/a>. &ldquo;Providence residents should be outraged and demand that every Council member involved refund the cost of these mailers&mdash;personally.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Providence City Council did not respond to an inquiry into whether the initiative was solely taxpayer-funded or financed through the various organizations cited as community partners.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Junesfinalrose\/status\/1937957670558044437\" target=\"_blank\">On social media<\/a>, the city council&rsquo;s chief of staff, June Rose, promoted the campaign &ldquo;[b]rought to you by&hellip;the movement.&rdquo;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Rose, a prominent street-level activist organizer, has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.providencejournal.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2025\/03\/20\/who-is-june-rose-pvd-city-councils-chief-of-staff-known-for-political-protests\/82567065007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">racking up protest-related arrests<\/a> over the past year. In March, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golocalprov.com\/news\/after-prov-council-chief-of-staff-arrested-again-at-trump-protest-councilor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Rose was arrested<\/a> outside Trump Tower at a demonstration denouncing ICE&rsquo;s detention of pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil.
