Under the plea agreement, Kohberger will plead guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary in exchange for the prosecution dropping the death penalty request. He will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole or appeal.The families of the victims, notably the Goncalves family, expressed their anger and disappointment over the plea deal, feeling that it was a failure of the justice system.They voiced their heartbreak and frustration through a Facebook post, highlighting the emotional toll the case has taken on them. We are beyond furious at the State of Idaho. They have failed us. Please give us some time. This was very unexpected.
