However, the measure ultimately fell<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/state\/3308947\/ron-desantis-continues-campaign-against-renewed-marijuana-measure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> four percentage points<\/a> short of the 60% threshold needed to pass.<\/p>\n<p>He also, upon taking office, negotiated the release of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3317665\/president-trump-hero-american-freed-detained-russia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> Marc Fogel<\/a>, an American teacher who was convicted of drug possession in Russia and detained there from 2022 to February of this year. Customs officials found 0.6 ounces of medical marijuana in his luggage.<\/p>\n<p>Marijuana is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/health\/2025\/04\/16\/which-states-legal-weed-marijuana\/83086694007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">legal<\/a> for medical and recreational use in 24 states, as well as Washington, D.C., and it is legal for only medical use in 12 states.
