Gavin Newsom &mdash; as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/marines-detain-first-civilian-los-angeles-us-northern-command-confirms-authority\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marines<\/a>, there&rsquo;s been simply too much bad news coming out of the City of Angels in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>And the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/la-dodgers-get-exposed-trump-administration-trying-play-tough-ice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dodgers themselves have contributed<\/a> their part to the national fatigue (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/la-dodgers-announce-next-step-claiming-keep-ice-financial-assistance-immigrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">if not disgust<\/a>) with all things L.A.<\/p>\n<p>But for many, Ohtani is different.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, Thursday&rsquo;s game was against the Rockies &mdash; cellar-dwellers of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/standings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National League West<\/a> with only 18 wins against 63 losses (including Thursday&rsquo;s).<\/p>\n<p>And sure, Ohtani&rsquo;s homer came at Coors Field in Denver, the Mile High City, where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denver7.com\/news\/local-news\/the-science-behind-coors-field-homers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">altitude and thin air<\/a> make batters&rsquo; dreams come true.<\/p>\n<p>But the fact remains it was Ohtani at the bat, and it was Ohtani who sent that ball out of the park for the National League West-leading Dodgers.
