Ritchie Torres (D-NY) condemned Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) for his request to the Department of Justice to revoke the citizenship of new York Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani. Ogles accused Mamdani of obtaining his citizenship through misrepresentation related to support for terrorism, urging his denaturalization and potential deportation.In response, Torres described Ogles&#8217; actions as &#8220;profoundly unAmerican,&#8221; emphasizing the importance of rejecting bigotry and Islamophobia. He acknowledged his disagreements with Mamdani but argued that the call for deportation based on political differences or religious identity is unacceptable. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) panned Rep. Andrew Cuomo in the mayoral primary. &ldquo;But every Democrat &mdash; and every decent person &mdash; should speak out with moral clarity against the despicable Islamophobic attacks that have been directed at him.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Demanding the deportation of an American citizen simply because he is Muslim &mdash; or simply because he <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >holds political views<\/a> different from your own &mdash; is not only bigoted. It is profoundly unAmerican,&rdquo; the New York Democrat added. &ldquo;Bigotry in every form should be rejected unequivocally.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In his letter to Bondi, Ogles referenced Mamdani&rsquo;s past support of people convicted of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/israel-war-bidens-6-billion-iran-prisoner-swap-deal-under-harsh-spotlight\/\" title=\"Biden&#039;s B Iran prisoner swap deal scrutinized amid Israel war.\">terrorism-related offenses<\/a> before becoming a U.S. citizen. The state assemblyman once rapped, &ldquo;Free the Holy Land Five \/ My guys.&rdquo; The lyrics referred to five <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-anti-asian-institutions-hold-sway-in-biden-white-house\/\" title=\"...ORT: Anti-Asian Institutions Hold Sway in Biden White House\">individuals tied<\/a> to the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, an Islamic charity, who were convicted in 2008 for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/actblue-facilitating-donations-to-terror-tied-charity-legal-group-says\/\" title=\"ActBlue Facilitating Donations to Terror-Tied Charity, Legal Group Says\">providing material support<\/a> to Hamas terrorists.<\/p>\n<p>The Tennessee Republican also cited Mamdani&rsquo;s recent refusal to condemn the anti-Israel phrase &ldquo;globalize the intifada,&rdquo; which has been condemned by many as a call to violence. Mamdani also associated himself on the campaign trail with Hasan Piker, who came to notoriety after suggesting that the U.S. deserved the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack.<\/p>\n<p>For these reasons and others, Ogles said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepOgles\/status\/1938301392416084150\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"social media post\">social media post<\/a> that Mamdani is an &ldquo;antisemitic, socialist, communist who will destroy the great City of New York.&rdquo; He also gave Mamdani a nickname that critics would consider Islamophobic: &ldquo;little Muhammad.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Other Republicans and conservatives have harped on Mamdani following his primary victory against Cuomo, claiming he will run New York City into the ground and demanding he be stopped.<\/p>\n<p>Right-wing personality Laura Loomer, for one, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/politics\/politics-news\/zohran-mamdani-islamophobia-victory-laura-loomer-1235372280\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"suggested\">suggested<\/a> the Trump administration could &ldquo;literally bar Zohran from running for office and criminally charge him.&rdquo; In a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/LauraLoomer\/status\/1938217783189217312\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"separate post\">separate post<\/a>, she claimed his connection to Students for Justice in Palestine and the Palestinian Youth Movement &ldquo;threatens New York&rsquo;s safety and stokes anti-Jewish hate!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Loomer pointed to former President Bill Clinton&rsquo;s congratulations to Mamdani for his primary win as an example of the Democratic Party&rsquo;s sympathy with &ldquo;pro-Islamic terror.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk tied Mamdani&rsquo;s win to the al-Qaeda terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;24 years ago a group of Muslims killed 2,753 people on 9\/11,&rdquo; Kirk <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/charliekirk11\/status\/1937698592820723837\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"posted on X\">posted on X<\/a>. &ldquo;Now a Muslim Socialist is on pace to run New York City.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) similarly referenced 9\/11 and the phrase &ldquo;Never Forget,&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NancyMace\/status\/1937864426410869062\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"saying\">saying<\/a> &ldquo;I think we sadly have forgotten&rdquo; alongside a photo of Mamdani dressed in a kurta. Meanwhile, Rep.
